"No more baklava?"

Baklava is Greek. The only thing Syria has that the U.S. wants is WMD.

Arabs say its Arabic. Arab and Greek cultures were very integrated well in the past (pre-Islam) so it makes little practical difference anyway.

I suspect the real threat might be international team tag to their efforts.

Fuel prices have jumped 40%, steel prices have jumped 40% and now cement is being rationed down to only support about 200CY of concrete per batch plant daily. All due to shortages in international shipping, in large part because of Chinese priority for those resources.

If you planned to build this year,...you might want to plan some more. Those without accounts with concrete batch plants might find they have a long wait for concrete in the foreseeable future.

Most of these shortages are pure shortages from foreign imports being directed elsewhere.

This is bad.

I was thinking about buying a Syrian car, or radio, or microwave, or dialysis machine, or telephone, or computer, or airplane, or something.

Now it looks like I can't.

Calm down, I know this is devastating news and the world looks very bleak, but cheer up. You need to listen to Kerry. He's running an optomistic campaign, ya know.

"Arabs say its Arabic. Arab and Greek cultures were very integrated well in the past (pre-Islam) so it makes little practical difference anyway."

Well, yes there is a practical difference. The Arabs make their "Buklawa" with pistachios and sugar. We use walnuts and honey. As for the pre-islamic past, they were civilized when they were a Hellenic people.
