Two weeks ago I attended a birthday party for my grandson. He showed me an essay he was told to write about our country's history. He got a very good mark for it. It was all about equal rights and how unfair it was that the "rich old men" had so much, and the poor had so little.

I asked my son-in-law if he knew what his son was learning in school. In a disgusted voice, he said that they were trying to destroy our nation's founding fathers.

A youngish woman who was present said to my grandson in a voice sweet enough to give everyone present a bad case of zits, that well, of course, it was only right because everyone is born equal and we don't treat them equally.

SO, the question is: Does anyone know of a book for a 13 year old about our founding fathers? One that represents some patriotism, of course.

Check out Veritas Press - at http://www.veritaspress.com
I don't think you will be disappointed. Books that should be part of a Classical Christian education - including authentic histories of America, American historical figures, etc. may be found through Veritas.

...it was only right because everyone is born equal and we don't treat them equally.

I really detest that phrase.
I’ve tried to explain to some of the younger (<30) crowd that every one in the USA is born equal under the law, not equal in all aspects.
Is the crack baby born with mental defects and an IQ potential of 50 equal in intelligence to the child born healthy to a mother who cared and has the potential of an IQ of 120? Is the child born to working class parents the social equal (at birth) of the child born with a silver spoon?
No, we make our own equality and nothing the socialists do can change that.

Another good resource I should have included in my previous post: American Vision.

I don't, but I was just today thinking that we needed an internet resource that explains why our founding fathers were great, then provides links to reinforcement of those thoughts, so school-kids could read about our founding fathers the facts that back up what we said. At least our kids would have a place to go to find out more about them.

You won't find a more anti-NEA individual than myself. What's going on in our schools borders criminal activity IMO. It's subversive, and is in my opinion sedition (although I'll freely admit I dont' know the exact qualification for this charge). I just know that what they are doing is about as wrong as it can be.
