Arrizurieta shared, "We applaud theseresults and are honored to receive this news from a publication of thismagnitude. The Economist and Economist Intelligence Unit are widely regardedfor their accurate and in-depth reporting. This reaffirms that we are theundisputed 'Gateway of the Americas' and provides yet another clear examplethat Florida continues to unite the Western Hemisphere at Miami." The Economist Intelligence Unit survey results add to other recentmomentum-building news for Florida FTAA including the announcement bySecretary of State Colin Powell that the U.S. Government has chosen SouthFlorida as the site for next year's OAS General Assembly meeting, as well aslast week's announcement by Honduran President Maduro's endorsement of Miamias the site for the Permanent Secretariat for the FTAA. Earlier this yearAmerica Economia ranked Miami as the top U.S. city to do business with LatinAmerica and the Caribbean.
Florida FTAA, Inc. is the private-public entity led by Governor Jeb Bushand officials throughout the state of Florida with the mission that Miami, FLbecome the site of the Permanent Secretariat of the Free Trade Area of theAmericas. Florida FTAA is chaired by Ambassador Charles E. Cobb, Jr. andmanaged by President Jorge L. Arrizurieta. *** So they say.
While we are watching our citizens lose their heads in foreign countries, we are reaching a finality in the war for our borders and sovereignty.
Why is Miami such a good location for the FTAA headquarters?
"I would ask trade officials from everywhere in the hemisphere, where do you and your family want to be stuck on the weekend?" Jerry Haar, director of the Inter-American Business and Labor Program at the University of Miami's North-South Center. "Someplace where the weather is lousy and it takes hours to get to the airport, and where hardly anyone speaks your language? Or a place that is comfortable in so many ways, where it's also likely you will have friends and relatives?"
Governor Jeb Bush: Since taking office, one of the most important economic initiatives of my administration has been free and fair trade. Florida leads the race as the most significant trading partner with all but one of the 33 countries in the Western Hemisphere and I see a Permanent Secretariat here as the Gateway of the Americas through Miami. |
It is hard. We citizens do not get to vote on international governances yet we will be bound by them. I know, I know, we vote for politicians who we hope will represent our best interests but unless we have the big bucks I am afraid we lose. What I do not get, is our govt. has a hard enough time dealing with America yet now it seems everyday there is a new international group, meeting, etc. that we are involved in and paying tax $ to. If we had a small govt. in the first place (like the one envisioned in the Constititution) then there would not be enough govt. agencies and politicians and tax money to support this crap.
6 - Bingo - "Jeb Bush. He has lobbied tirelessly for the FTAA north American headquarters to be in Miami. He is effectively working for a different government than ours that is not a republic, but is socialist with no proctections for individual rights or sovereignty. But no one appears to know or care."

I don't have much optimism about our borders, but just recently it seems, the Border Patrol has begun to arrest an estimated 1 in 4 of the illegals crossing, as well as some already living in parts of Southern California. Obviously, not enough, but a start.
Because it already IS a trade center for the Americas--in cocaine, heroin, and laundered cash.
Why change now?
Sad but true.
