I just returned frm President Bush' visit to Reno, Nevada. Working as a volunteer for the campaign, I came away with a few thoughts to share:
The crowd was incredible, with the crowd lining up well before the event staff was scheduled to appear. People wrapped around the convention center, down a main thoroughfare and back again. They say 9000 tickets were distributed, and my bet is all were used.
It was great to see a diverse crowd, with an amazing number of young people, especially high school and college age adults.
The best line of the day came from Secretary of State Dean Heller: "John Kerry changes positions more often than a Nevada prostitute." The crowd roared!
Sen. John McCain introduced the President. I told my daughter that McCain must see the handwriting on the wall and wants a key role in the next administration. McCain knows that paybacks are hell in the second term of a President, so he's back leading the bandwagon.
The Prez got a long and loud ovation and Nevada welcome. His speech was well written, but better yet, well delivered. He never looked better.
None of us inside the venue knew of the death of the hostage. Probably explained why the Prez was late.
Loudest cheers were for his comments about the war on terror, the armed forces, and cutting taxes.
Another explosion of emotion at the end of the speech, and the crowd filed away motivated, satisfied and anxious to put Nevada in GWB's column come November. Bank on it!
Nice to be considered a "swing state" to get the Prez out here. The only thing "swinging" about Northern Nevada is the door leading out for Kerry when he follows with a visit within the next few months.
A great day!
We should all use it for a week or two.
Just watched it on the web and WOW, he sure says it well. It was a VERY good speech.
God helps those who help themselves! Use it.......it's too good to pass up.

Grab this as your tagline before someone else does.
It's called "Only In America". Does anyone know the composer/singer?
Done, but everyone else should use it for a bit... a great line...needs to be heard across America.
Until Election Day for me.....
One here....
I'm surprised Leno, Letterman or Miller hasn't used this one!
Any chance they could get him to move to Mass.?
LOL! I was going to comment on all the blond bombshells there. I like brunettes because they know how to keep their little secrets:) ROFL!
Brooks and Dunn.
True.
Heard someone speculate on Fox News that with a Bush victory in November, McCain might be appointed Sec of Defense. Wondering if they've made a deal even though McCain is fond of back stabbing Bush. If this is true, I hope Bush is going to be ready for the knife.
The Bush surge is beginning.
I AGREE! How cool it would be to see that statement ALL OVER Free Republic!! Everybody.......jump on it!!
My job, as a "volunteer", was to scan the crowd as they walked into the arena. I was required to check out everyone's attire. It was a dirty job, but somebody had to do it.
Oh, the humanity!
I think it's safe to say he's getting a better deal as a Republican in NV...
W has entered his campaign "zone" because he's pissed, imho. Look out and G'bye JF'nK. You are about the feel the wrath of a man who has actual convictions--and they're damn hard to beat.
