There are three possible, and to some extent interlinked, scenarios under which Pakistan could become motivated to dramatically reduce or altogether cut support for the Taliban and the Haqqani networks, and perhaps even start targeting their networks in Pakistan:
Pakistan-India relations significantly improve;
The military-intelligence apparatus loses its predominant power in the Pakistani government and becomes subordinated to an enlightened, capable, and accountable civilian leadership. That means that both the Pakistani military and the country’s civilian politicians would have to undergo a radical transformation; and
Pakistan develops the political and physical resources, and wherewithal, to tackle its own internally-oriented and metastasizing terrorist groups, such as various Punjab Taliban groups: Laskhar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Sahaba, and the Islamic State in Pakistan. If those threats become mitigated, Pakistan may have more stomach to go after the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqanis.

It is important to know why Pakistan government lets Abdul Aziz run his activities from the oldest and second largest mosque in Pakistan’s capital. Since 1970s, the Pakistani establishment has pursued a policy of Islamisation and covert war. Aziz’s father was a good friend of dictator Zia ul Haq and in 1970s and 1980s, sent thousands of his students to Afghanistan to fight as mujahiddin(the proper word for jihadis).
After the assassination of his father, he and his brother assumed the responsibility for training jihadis. His brother was killed in the 2007 conflict with Pakistan army. Abdul Aziz was caught in 2007 while trying to run away hiding in a burka and since then has also been called Mullah Burqa. Immidiately after this, there was an uprising in his support in Waziristan and it could be quelled only after hundreds of Pakistan army soldiers were dead.

The security situation in Ladha, Makin and other parts of South Waziristan is tense because of clashes between various Taliban groups. Terror has gripped the area. A new war has been imposed. Project Taliban keeps destabilising peace in our region in one form or the other.
