NBC | June 17, 2004 | Hildy

Posted on 06/17/2004 6:21:16 PM PDT by Hildy

Jsut saw a promo..to paraphrase..."his remarks at his Father's funeral have set off a controversy...." Is there ANYONE the media will not exploit to further their cause and bash Bush?

I see no evidence Ron Reagan ever sought to follow in his father's footsteps. Do you have some evidence to share?

Evidence? Did someone ask for evidence?

1. Ron Reagan works in television, which his father did prior to his entrance into politics.

2. His employer is General Electric (owner of MSNBC). GE was his father's employer prior to his entrance into politics.

Ron is following in his father's footsteps. And based on the political nature of his job, it's not too hard to imagine him entering politics. However, if he does, he'll be playing for the wrong team.

I should have NEVER said anything.

That's the first statement you've made I agree with.

Unless you've read what I've read, and done over a year of research none of this makes sense.

I don't care what you're read or how you parse it now that you've opened your mouth -- or what you wrote in your thesis; when you are discussing a man's children, NOBODY -- and I mean NOBODY -- calls the youngest son the eldest and completely ignores his other son.

Forget I said anything

That won't be that hard to do; I make it a habit of discarding misinformation.

"The big elephant sitting in the corner is that George W. Bush is simply unqualified for the job... What's his accomplishment? ... I wonder what Ron thought his father's were?

This is what I never understand when critics of GWB say he was unqualified to be President.

Let's see. RR was a governor, Bill C. was a governor.

Um, what position did GWB come from?

That's right, little Ronnie. He was a governor. [Sheesh.]

What else did Reagan do that qualified him for the office of POTUS that Bush didn't do?

Hell, he didn't even serve in the military, did he?

Odd about Little Ronnie's middle name being "Prescott"...

There are quite a few "Prescotts" in the Bush family, are there not: Prescott Bush, Jr. Prescott Bush, George P. (P for Prescott) Bush

Someone should ask Ron from where his middle name is derived.

But in any case, we cannot let anyone's former proximity to Reagan give him/her a free pass. If they say something that distorts this great man, we must call them on it, clearly and repeatedly. As Reagan himself might say: "Bold colors here, not pale pastels."

Or "Don't be afraid to see what you see."

President Reagan was an officer in WWII, however, his bad eyesight prevented him from seeing much action. He ended up working stateside, where he helped to make training films for fighter pilots.

Well, he did serve. He signed up for extension courses for the Army, in 1937. Then was in the reserves IIRC, until 1942, when he went on active duty.

It was his dream to serve overseas, but his bad eyesight prevented it, so he worked in the film industry making war films.

He ended up as a Captain in the Army Air Force.

(I just read all this last week somewhere.)

I think we are going to have a public battle between him and the good adopted son, Michael

Sounds to me like we have a jealous son imbittered against the adopted son. What a pansy!

"Ron and Patti seemed to have been there more for moral support for mom, than anything else."

More like immoral support for human embryo stem cell research.

Maureen and Michael are both adopted.

Call Michael's show and ask him. I have.

I think it was a she..................but I could be wrong!
Divorce does that.......makes things complicated, whether
you want them to be or not. No judgement, I have a wonderful sis,
and many good friends that have been divorced.....
and to a person, they have all revealed that it has complicated their lives
in unimaginable ways.

I never thought he wanted to follow in his fathers footsteps either. It seems with the vast array of jobs he's had, that Ron is not sure what he wants to do.

But for him to call George Bush a big elephant and ask what's his accomplishments, that he's no longer an obnoxious drunk says a lot about a person.

Usually people who are not sure about themselves, try to diminish others to make themselves look better.Just an observation on my part!

Reagan serves on the board of the Creative Coalition, an organization founded in 1989 by a group including Susan Sarandon and Christopher Reeve to politically mobilize entertainers and artists, generally for liberal causes.

That sound you hear is the Great Communicator spinning in his grave.

Maybe someone should provide us all with the "proper" eulogy for your father, the President.
