Remind them when they complain about NCLB that TEDDY KENNEDY WROTE it, and there was an 11% increase in ED funding in the bill. Search FR for NCLB and you will find a bunch of articles for ammo.
Don't know either .. I also send my kids to catholic schools
But I do remember years back the public schools claimed they had to do cut backs because there wasn't enough money
I believed they did it to get parents mad to push politicains to give the schools more money .. only things is ... the schools never got better
...have been in grad school for two years...
your answer, THEY SLAM THE ACT AND HIM EVERY CHANCE THEY GET.
This act was jointly sponsored by Ted Kennedy, for crying out loud! Any stick to blame Bush will do.
The 'no child left behind' program has unfortunately become a pi$$ing contest between GWB and the NEA at the expense of all kids in the government schools.
I subscribe to a couple of email lists just for lesson plan ideas and educational games. I have read quite a few of the teachers on these lists complaining about The No Child Left Behind Act and saying some teachers have to quit because of it. Their reasoning was that if some kid doesn't want to learn, then it shouldn't be up to them to try to force them.
Bright lights can hurt.
The teachers at my kids school in San Jose, California have not said much about politics except during the recall. Even the teachers were pissed off at Gray Davis, and lots of them voted for Arnold.
Wonder no more.
The answer is:Yes, Yes, and Yes.
We're seeing a heavy run of an anti-nochild ad on Philly TV from some private group which is stupid, even from a bunch of teachers - gibberish about schools not being able to teach geometry or other important subjects because they have to drill for the nochild examinations - as though schools never gave standardized tests before nochild (opps - the ad just came on again even as I was typing this) also complaining that they can't get updated materials, teachers' training, or smaller classrooms because of the law (even though federal funds to education have been increasing about ten percent per year under Bush) - teachers and administrators are scared to death that they are finally going to be held accountable for how poorly kids might do in their classrooms, and hysteria is setting in......
we home school our kids
"Are School Administrations Nationwide Trying to Hurt George Bush?"
Yes.
Next Question...
Note: I have a close family memeber who is a classic NEA member-teacher... She began to complain about the NCLB ... When I suggested she write a letter to Sen Kennedy the NAMED AUTHOR of the Law she turned, gasped, stomped her foot, and turned heel ... oops ;-)
