LaGRANGE, Ky. -- Tuesday appeared to be an average day on the Ohio River northeast of Louisville until a house floated by.
The unoccupied two-story house floated atop 24 55-gallon plastic barrels.
The house had a bedroom upstairs and a living room downstairs, as well as an attached kitchen. It was filled with household items and debris, North Oldham Fire Chief Rick Albers said.
Inside the house, authorities found 4-year-old mail addressed to a man from Frankfort, Ky.
Officials suspect recent storms may have swept the floating structure away from the banks and down the river.
Firefighters and the U.S. Coast Guard moved the floating structure to shore and tethered it to trees.

They should have learned this in finance 101: homes are NOT a liquid asset!

In my haste to reply, I didn't read your much better response.

IIRC, my father told me of a plantation home that was moved from one location in a similar manner. I believe it was Bocage on the Bayou Tech - an awesome feat.

"let us sing one song for the old Kentucky home, as the old Kentucky home floats away....."I think it would be appropriate to follow that up with a round of Dixie!

authorities found 4-year-old mail addressed to a man from Frankfort, Ky. So the USPS uses unconventional methods of delivering mail - you folks are just too conventional...

Officials suspect recent storms may have swept the floating structure away from the banks and down the river. Brilliant officials alert: they ruled out someone tossing it off a bridge.

Has anyone checked the where abouts of ex-governor Paul Patton recently? Maybe he planned on a low cost cruise with his wife, after all he broke the state.
