One needs to follow through in what they say. For example, one cannot expect to be an effective leader if one talks about all the goals and objectives the team is expected to reach and then he goes into his office to read the newspaper and hide for the rest of the day.

It is good to keep a clean and uncluttered desk. All papers should be dealt with as soon as they cross your desk. I deal with every piece of paper immediately. As well as every voice mail and e-mail. Don't let all of this pile up. Don't clutter your desk. All correspondence is dealt with and either thrown away or filed. If filed, know where you filed it. I have hanging files in alphabetical order and the folders on my computers are organized and synchronized so that I know where to find everything when I need it - no matter what computer I am using.

Lots of caffeine definitely helps.
