Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) said Wednesday he would create a federal program that would pay to keep schools open until early evening to help working parents.

Kerry, visiting an after-school and summer school program center, said he would spend an additional $1.5 billion on after-school programs. He said he would get the money for keeping schools open until 6 p.m. from repealing President Bush's tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 a year.

I figured Kerry was too old to attend an afterschool program. Oh, maybe he means for his daughter to learn to not dress like a ho.

Boy, he sure is buying a lot with that dough. And he's going to give it to the middle class in the form of tax cuts.

Must be infinite.

Another huge program to undermine the family through the federal nanny-state.

Kerry has to be defeated.

We really should have pushed harder to get the Department of Education closed, when we had the chance.

The Feds have no business interfering with the schools, absent 14th amendment violations.

Certainly they have no business funding the schools.

"Kerry says he would raise the child and dependent care tax credit to cover up to $5,000 in expenses, up from the $3,000 maximum. He would extend the benefit to some parents who currently are not eligible, including stay-at-home parents and some in lower-income families who cannot get the nonrefundable credit because they do not owe any tax."

Giving a tax "credit" to those who don't owe taxes, is called welfare, no matter how Kerry tries to package it.

Why don't we just create federal schools that will keep the kids until bed time, feed them all their meals and provide uniforms and healthcare, too. That way, all the parents would need to do is put the kids to bed and send them back in the morning. We could avoid all that messy interference from the Christian parents who don't approve of Planned Parenthood sex training and things like that.

The real point here is now utterly pathetic his campaign is..there's no theme, and no excitement.. I caught the first few minutes of a rerun of his speech in NJ yesterday..they had to work hard to whip up the crowd beyond tepid applause...this race won't even be close..

Wait a minute I thought he was going to roll back the tax cuts to eliminate the deficit.

Maybe there are not many who remember this program, but it is called parents. My stay-at-home mom was there for me. I took a huge cut and modified my hours to stay home with mine. What is wrong with people?
