I would be interested in the exact words of the spokesperson to see if this is a big a deal as it will be portrayed.

Me, too. It reminds me of the brouhaha stirred up when the Bush ads showed fleeting and respectful images of the WTC in the aftermath of 9/11.

" reveiw of the 1980 election and how close the press said it was right up to the landslide"

Oh, that's right, I forgot about that-LOL

"Too bad he cannot remind the troops in Florida of which political party specifically sought to disqualify their ballots in 2000."

He doesn't have to...they will never forget that!

Not to worry, the entire focus of Rush's show will be all about him. The reference to himself will take precedence over all other statements made by the president.

Not true, here's the thread where we tracked how Rush handled it. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1154538/posts

I was expecting this. ;)

Bush's speeches are almost always eloquent, beautiful and forceful. And I don't minimize this. They reflect a president with a certain seriousness, taste and intelligence. (clinton's speeches, by contrast, were real snoozers, cloyingly self-reflective, rambling and banal.)

But because the informal, extemporaneous venue is not Bush's strong suit, Bush loses at least half of his bully pulpit before he even starts.

But my comments about the Bush failure to communicate goes beyond Bush, himself.

As far as I can tell, Bush has no 'rapid response team.' Rather than instantly refuting the Left's demagoguery, the Bush camp allows The Big Lie to take root, (a speedy process in this shallow sound-bite culture), to acquire a certain measure of credibility.

I sense that the Bush camp naively believes because the truth is on its side, a robust, rapid response is unnecessary.

One would have expected their current PR and electoral problems to have disabused them of this silly notion by now.

"Really..........."

Yeah "really".

BTW ... maybe you can give us one good reason why we should esteem your opinion about Rush as more credible that the opinions of President "Rush is a great American" Bush and President Ronald Reagan:

Ronald Reagan Writes Rush 12/12/92:

"Thanks for all you're doing to promote Republican and conservative principles. Now that I've retired from active politics, I don't mind that you've become the number one voice for conservatism."

Reagan writes Rush again in 1994:

"Unfortunately today we can't escape the so-called experts who are busy chipping away at all we accomplished, not only our record but also our convictions and even our integrity. Frankly, I've never been distracted by revisionist claims, Rush. I feel strongly we should allow our record to stand the test of time. Let history decide. I know it'll judge us fairly.

"I'm comforted to know that our country is in the capable hands of gifted young individuals like you and your listeners and viewers. You are the backbone of our great nation, solely responsible for the success of our worldwide crusade.

"God bless you and your audience for believing, for having faith in America's future, and for making a difference in this world. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Ron."

The left has never cared about America and would jeopardize national security in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the ping.

God bless our troops. May He bring them home safe, soon and victorious.
