While the rest of the country was paying tribute to our beloved former president, Hollywood stars were turning up at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills to watch Michael Moores latest flight of fancy.
A Whos Who of Hollywood libs flocked to a special screening of Moores upcoming celluloid rant called Fahrenheit 9/11.
Apparently, two screenings of the documentary had to be arranged to satisfy the paranoid palate of the Hollywood elite. Viewers included Martin Sheen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Ellen DeGeneres, David Duchovny, Sharon Stone, Meg Ryan, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Mark Wahlberg, Drew Barrymore, Chris Rock, Danny DeVito, Rhea Pearlman, Jack Black, Matthew Perry, Josh Brolin, Diane Lane, Marisa Tomei, Billy Crystal, Larry David, Rob Reiner, Aaron Sorkin, Larry Gelbart, Brett Ratner, Tom Hayden, Arianna Huffington, Spike Jonze, Kelly Lynch, Bill Maher, Camryn Manheim, Viggo Mortensen and Leelee Sobieski.
Unfortunately, due to a commitment to complete her Meet the Fockers movie project, Barbra Streisand was unable to join her Tinseltown comrades.
To his credit, Miramax head Harvey Weinstein began the evening by asking everyone to take time out to give our condolences to the Reagan family.
At the screening of the Palme D'Or Award garnering flick, Drew Barrymore told the World Entertainment News Network, I never come to premieres, but I'm so here on this one. I'm looking forward to this more than anything in the world. Even more than another Charlies Angels sequel?
And Leelee Sobieski admitted to shedding tears during the movie, saying that it should be required for everyone in America to see as part of their education in high schools.
What else do you suppose a Leelee curriculum might include? An Air America broadcast? A Hillary baking lesson? An Oliver Stone marathon?
When it comes to Moore movie praise, legendary sci-fi writer Ray Bradbury evidently has a different take. Bradbury, who penned the 1953 classic novel Fahrenheit 451, has a gripe with Moore's tactic of naming his movie by using a variation of the authors own title.
Bradbury told the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Michael Moore is a dumb [expletive], that's what I think. He stole my title and changed the numbers without ever asking my permission.
So Bradbury never consented to having the 451 changed to 9/11?
Judging by the way Moore messed with statistics in the past, we shouldnt be too surprised to see him monkeying with the numbers now.

I guess they had to split the group up cuz they couldn't get that many fat heads in the screening room at once. ;-)
