4/8/79 On order of President Carter, US ended displomatic relations with Iran due to failure of negotiations to persuade Iran to release the hostages taken 11/4/79 91 crimsonbird.com * 4/25/79 Operation Eagle Claw Iranian hostage rescue attempt ends in utter failure; The operation was aborted April 25 after three of the eight helicopters suffered mechanical failures and one of the helicopters collided with a refueling plane, killing five Air Force personnel, three Marines and injuring dozens.

Seems to have the years mixed up it was 1980 those events happened.
