SCOTT'S FISHY FURY

SCOTT'S FISHY FURY

By HOWARD BREUER

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 15, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Scott Peterson hotly cursed and threw a flashlight after police grilled him about his suspicious fishing trip the day his pregnant wife, Laci, disappeared, one officer testified yesterday.

"I asked him what he was fishing for," Modesto Detective Matthew Spurlock told rapt jurors during the start of the third week of Peterson's murder trial.

"He had this blank look for a second or so, his eyes shifted a bit. And he didn't really answer the question.

"I asked what he was using for bait, and I got the same kind of response . . . this blank shifting," Spurlock said. "He couldn't really answer. Then he said, 'a silver lure,' and he held his hands about 7 to 8 inches apart."

Spurlock said that when he then asked Peterson to leave the house, he watched as the fertilizer salesman cursed through gritted teeth and threw a flashlight to the ground.

"It sounded like 'f - - -,' like it was being said out of frustration," the cop said............

Mistrial denied in surprise testimony

Mistrial denied in surprise testimony

REDWOOD CITY -- The judge in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial refused to declare a mistrial Monday over surprise testimony about Peterson's use of an obscenity shortly after his pregnant wife disappeared.

Superior Court Judge Alfred Delucchi gently chastised prosecutor Rick Distaso for pulling a fast one, but concluded that it was not a gross violation of trial procedure.

Also Monday, Sharon Rocha cried as she looked away from a large screen showing remains of her daughter, Laci Peterson. Minutes later, pictures of her smiling daughter splashed on the screen and Rocha quietly got up and exited the courtroom.

And two Modesto police officers said Scott Peterson seemed caught off-guard when first asked about his solo fishing trip.

Sparks flew after lead defense attorney Mark Geragos asked Delucchi for a mistrial, in a motion that drew snickers from the audience.........

Juror # 6, the firefighter, became ill this am. Proceedings halted - scheduled to resume this afternoon.
Juror told bailiff he felt nauseated. Reporterettes from KCRA and KOVR (Sacramento stations) state type of illness is unknown, but hoping it is not the flu.

Hope so,too. These police officers and all the excruciating detail is necessary an ex prosecuter said as the defense will point out every thing they don't address as though they are hiding something...said that's why the trial will last so long....

I have read that also grizz. I think it was posted on WS. Yesterday there was a girl posting over there who had been in Court yesterday. She won the lottery for that day. She said it was really interesting. Said Geragos really blew a gasket and called them the "peanut gallery". Sounds to me like he's having a meltdown. She said Scott is skinny and creepy.

I am always leary of getting let down if I don't know something is verified....I hope to be pleasantly surprised..

.Bodies washed up near where Scott went fishing and the items he had with him when arrested, plus the change of appearance are enough for me. If I add in golf/fishing story, courting Amber right after the disappearance, lies, strange behavior, timeline testimony..I am certain. I am not sure what the sonar could prove as we have the bodies....unless it is much clearer than I imagine.

I think the pants she had on were the ones she wore to the Salon..

Well, well, well, Jackie... very interesting! Scott is becoming demonstrative of love or lust for a jail employee, let's see... and her name is... Lynndie England...

?!

Just kidding everyone!

They say her name is Denise and that she is a social worker at the jail and she is the person who lays out the daily court clothes for Scott to wear. Heh.

And Jackie, there's some nimrod on that thread over there who's saying "So what? He's a widower and he's in love, so what?"

GAG ME WITH A STURGEON!!! The nimrod over on the other forum doesn't even get the obvious point that even if Scott is madly in love with this woman, he is a TOTAL IDIOT for writing her love notes while his trial is ongoing! They've spent the last couple weeks putting on witnesses to try to prove he didn't care that Laci was dead, and now he confirms what they've been trying to prove?? What an idiot!

he's my CHUM

Are YOU a social worker over at the jail there, too?

We here on the forum ORDER you to stop being chums with Scott--we DON'T want to have to fish up a pair of poor, battered scissors (with a hair clinging to them) from the bottom of the Bay!

We know the defense would object strenuously... for starters, they'd say his behavior at this present time is too remote in time and place from the date of the murder (which they don't even concede was a murder.)

But the prosecution could counter that his behavior at this place and time is bound up with the trial concerning Laci's murder, and that that makes it relevant to the murder itself.

The prosecution would have to prove, with handwriting experts, that the handwriting was Scott's.

I think they have half a shot at getting it in, regardless of whether Scott testifies. (PS If Scott testifies, that, all by itself, is very likely to make him lose the trial.)

I was reading Geragos's opening. (about the boat)
Geragos stated (page 15): "They didn't find any blood. They found fish emulsion in the boat."
Geragos says(page 21): (laci) wouldn't go in the bathroom in the back of the warehouse, because it's stacked up with fertilizer. She was worried about getting anywhere near that Liquid fertilizer." (Fish Emulsion?)

Could fish emulsion throw off scent dogs?
Wouldn't it be something if they found processed chemicals (fish emulsion) on the the tape or on Laci's clothes?

Yup! Two pairs of Laci's shoes accounted for! Especially those tennis shoes (which he said she was wearing when he last saw her... except for the time he said she was barefoot when he last saw her... as she watched Martha Stewart, sat at her dressing table arranging her hair, mopped the floor and got ready to walk the dog.)

It is supposed to be a very clear picture of Laci showing the weights attached to her. One around the neck, one tying the arms together and one around her mid section. I read that they COULD read the tag on her pants. Also, they could see the trench where the tides were dragging her back and forth. That was the day that it suddenly got so rough that they had to abandon the search so that the divers could not go down. When they came back she had moved.

Yes! They said he hurled his flashlight to the floor and mumbled a curse word through clenched teeth.

And when that testimony came out, Geragos made sure to BURN IT INDELIBLY into the jury's brain by immediately erupting in a big scene and having the jury run out of the courtroom!

In that particular incident, let's just say Geragos did not show the optimum level of legal skills...

Will you be totally grossed out if I now make a comment about the "one-eyed wonder worm" in relation to Scott's unhinged lust for the jail worker?

Wouldn't it be amazing if that turns out to be accurate??

Whatever the body's location was, when the sonar detected it, would become part of the evidence. You can bet the sonar thingy recorded the location. Next question: on Dec. 23 or 24, was Scott's boat ever approximately above that location in the water?

"Could fish emulsion throw off scent dogs?

If you want them to follow the scent of the fish emulsion and not the body, It appears it would throw them off since they are attracted to it.

How to Keep Dogs Out of Your Yard

If the neighborhood dogs are coming into your yard and causing damage, there are a few steps you can take - short of calling Animal Control.

Steps: 1.  Place one gallon plastic milk jugs filled with water around the perimeter of your property. This folk remedy works more often than not.

  2.  Stop using fish emulsion fertilizer, bone meal and blood meal. Dogs, cats, raccoons and skunks are attracted by the scent of these organic products. If you use them in your yard, cover the scent with a bitter apple spray like that sold at pet stores.

Oh, no! Not the firefighter. I think a firefighter will be good on this jury. Hope it's no more than a passing stomachache.
