SCOTT'S FISHY FURY

SCOTT'S FISHY FURY

By HOWARD BREUER

June 15, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Scott Peterson hotly cursed and threw a flashlight after police grilled him about his suspicious fishing trip the day his pregnant wife, Laci, disappeared, one officer testified yesterday.

"I asked him what he was fishing for," Modesto Detective Matthew Spurlock told rapt jurors during the start of the third week of Peterson's murder trial.

"He had this blank look for a second or so, his eyes shifted a bit. And he didn't really answer the question.

"I asked what he was using for bait, and I got the same kind of response . . . this blank shifting," Spurlock said. "He couldn't really answer. Then he said, 'a silver lure,' and he held his hands about 7 to 8 inches apart."

Spurlock said that when he then asked Peterson to leave the house, he watched as the fertilizer salesman cursed through gritted teeth and threw a flashlight to the ground.

"It sounded like 'f - - -,' like it was being said out of frustration," the cop said............

Mistrial denied in surprise testimony

Mistrial denied in surprise testimony

REDWOOD CITY -- The judge in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial refused to declare a mistrial Monday over surprise testimony about Peterson's use of an obscenity shortly after his pregnant wife disappeared.

Superior Court Judge Alfred Delucchi gently chastised prosecutor Rick Distaso for pulling a fast one, but concluded that it was not a gross violation of trial procedure.

Also Monday, Sharon Rocha cried as she looked away from a large screen showing remains of her daughter, Laci Peterson. Minutes later, pictures of her smiling daughter splashed on the screen and Rocha quietly got up and exited the courtroom.

And two Modesto police officers said Scott Peterson seemed caught off-guard when first asked about his solo fishing trip.

Sparks flew after lead defense attorney Mark Geragos asked Delucchi for a mistrial, in a motion that drew snickers from the audience.........

June 14 (BCN) — A furious Mark Geragos asked for a mistrial this morning in the Scott Peterson double murder trial after prosecutors failed to inform him that a police officer overheard Peterson use an expletive on the night his wife Laci went missing. .........

Here is all I can find now..
"Hammer on right now - two days ago this same juror approached MG making jokes with him. Juror tells BR that - "looks like you might lose today" - like it might be some kind of sports comment. Hammer says it should be interesting to see who complains first - MG or Distaso."

I'm sure a guy like this Hull has so many orders of protection against him, over the years, that he could paper his walls with them.

I'm so glad the counseling is going well!!

I really think, though, that the fund referred to by Crier was a private one--maybe it was part of that fat reward fund. Because they said he and Sharon were the only ones who could sign on it to get funds.

Yes, something WAS off with Scott. As for me, I distinctly remember feeling NO hostility towards him at all, at first. No reason to, from what I knew. But still, I wondered at his "shyness" in refusing to do any interviews.

I remember all the family members (even Laci's) who DID do interviews always made excuses for Scott's not being up there in front of the cameras.

I really have to give credit to some poster on here, for pointing out what Scott was really doing (hiding from his girlfriend.) When I read that post, this big lightbulb went off over my slowly turning little mind, and suddenly Scott's "shyness" was seen for what it really was--deception!

Speaking of defense lawyers asking Scott for money, the police officers apparently recently testified more than once that on Scott's kitchen counter, there was a yellow pages open to a page of "color ads". This must've been the phone book that was open to pages of ads for criminal law ATTORNEYS. I heard that's what they found.

I got the impression that the cops were dying to be asked to "describe what page the phone book was open to, please." But neither side asked them. Hee hee. If the prosecutor had asked them, Geragos would've had another screaming fit.
The failure to ask this question is not a failure on the part of the prosecution: Geragos would probably have won that objection. A defendant isn't supposed to be seen as guilty-looking "just because he exercises his constitutional rights" (as, his right to an attorney.) And what the page had written on it might've been seen as hearsay.

I don't know. I think his treatment of Amber was still in the wheedling, conning stage. So he probably didn't abuse her. But that doesn't mean she didn't maybe find out about some strange sex practices he MAY have had. And if any of his practices were dangerous, who's to say he might not have accidentally killed Laci when engaging in one of them?

Just a "maybe". Because I'm really starting to think that her whole death was planned.

It appears that juror #5, twenty-something male, spoke to Brent as they were going through the metal detector. Words heard on video tape were "lose" and "today".

YES!! I had heard all of that--except the part about how it was Brocchini whom he told "9:30".

I'm tellin' ya, there will already BE evidence he left the house no earlier than about 10 or 10:06, b/c of that cellphone call! And now there's FURTHER evidence that he left no earlier than 10--HIS OWN STATEMENTS TO TWO OFFICERS!

And if it is proved he left between 10 and 10:30, instead of earlier, there is NO TIME for this abduction to have occurred!!! I really think this is a BIG problem for the defense!

Karen Servas is really a lynchpin witness in this scenario. I'm so glad her testimony is already safely on the record.

Juror 5 — A husky white man in his late 20s or 30s with a crew cut. He's on disability from his job as an airport screener for a private firm and formerly worked as a store security agent. He apparently raises a child as a single parent. He said he has followed the case very little and smiled and shook his head when defense lawyer Mark Geragos asked if Peterson's affair would make him think he's guilty of murder.

I think that was the intersection of Coffey (sp) and Scenic. Yeah--it's probably either the intersection he dumped the dog at, or it could be right by the place where the hospital back lot looks out onto the park. (Remember that woman who was taking a smoke break and claimed she saw Laci with her dog, and two seedy men, etc., etc.?)

So Yosemite is the street he'd have taken BOTH to get to his warehouse from home, and to eventually get to Berkeley from home? So that means his warehouse is sort of on the way from his home to Berkeley?

So the dog went THAT way? So... Laci was (probably) being borne along by Scott when he went to his warehouse on his way to Berkeley?

What kind of a NUT is this person?

I hope they just throw him off the jury now and put in an alternate and we can breathe again...
