SCOTT'S FISHY FURY
By HOWARD BREUER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 15, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Scott Peterson hotly cursed and threw a flashlight after police grilled him about his suspicious fishing trip the day his pregnant wife, Laci, disappeared, one officer testified yesterday.
"I asked him what he was fishing for," Modesto Detective Matthew Spurlock told rapt jurors during the start of the third week of Peterson's murder trial.
"He had this blank look for a second or so, his eyes shifted a bit. And he didn't really answer the question.
"I asked what he was using for bait, and I got the same kind of response . . . this blank shifting," Spurlock said. "He couldn't really answer. Then he said, 'a silver lure,' and he held his hands about 7 to 8 inches apart."
Spurlock said that when he then asked Peterson to leave the house, he watched as the fertilizer salesman cursed through gritted teeth and threw a flashlight to the ground.
"It sounded like 'f - - -,' like it was being said out of frustration," the cop said............

REDWOOD CITY -- The judge in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial refused to declare a mistrial Monday over surprise testimony about Peterson's use of an obscenity shortly after his pregnant wife disappeared.
Superior Court Judge Alfred Delucchi gently chastised prosecutor Rick Distaso for pulling a fast one, but concluded that it was not a gross violation of trial procedure.
Also Monday, Sharon Rocha cried as she looked away from a large screen showing remains of her daughter, Laci Peterson. Minutes later, pictures of her smiling daughter splashed on the screen and Rocha quietly got up and exited the courtroom.
And two Modesto police officers said Scott Peterson seemed caught off-guard when first asked about his solo fishing trip.
Sparks flew after lead defense attorney Mark Geragos asked Delucchi for a mistrial, in a motion that drew snickers from the audience.........

I thought that too and perhaps it may be exaggerated some. However, I DO believe, that there will be some type of evidence given at trial that will be so powerful that the Defense cannot overcome it. I thought the same as you when I read it BUT I definitely recall this statement from LAST summer "You won't believe what they have". I kinda filed that away in the back of my head but it seems to have surfaced again. I guess we'll see when the Experts all begin to testify. And don't worry, I'm not taking your comment the wrong way. IF I'm wrong, I'll admit it and you can pass the salt and pepper as I eat my shirt!! LOL
LOL - I didn't know that.
Yes, if they had these fine sonar pictures, they'd have definitely turned them over to Geragos whenever they themselves got them.
But there was no reason for Geragos to tell the media about this damning evidence! I think he would've deliberately not mentioned it in his many public statements b/f trial.
He could still argue his crazy story about Connor having been born later/full term, by contesting the validity of the sonar pictures. I imagine he would say that the photography equipment was broken or flawed or distorted, that the pictures aren't really that clear, that the pictures were fakes to frame Scott, etc., etc.
WHAT???? between 10:00 and 10:30??? Well we still have the wiretap evidence, the cell phone records, and the GPS evidence to come in yet.
Does this behavior sound familiar? lol
I wonder WHO in the heck that they could get to perjure themselves like that. Geragos would have had to turn his WITNESS list over to the DA by now SO WHY do the DA keep speaking as if she never KNEW about the boat? I just think we're in for some surprises. I could be all wet on what the surprises are but I still think there are some. Some BIG ones!!
Well, we can always pray that it's true!
Maybe the sonar business is accurate; maybe it's accurate that they found some anchors at the bottom of the Bay. They did say they collected a lot of objects from there...
If they have just one bucket-cement anchor taken from the Bay, RG--just one anchor like that, which is similar to the one Scott still had when they searched his stuff--and if it is chemically the same as the one which was in Scott's possession, I think that would be dynamite!
I might be remembering wrong. Will look it up!
Your post #164 - That is EXACTLY what he will try to argue. What's he going to do about the anchors tho? They have his nearly empty cement bag, they have five anchors, and they have an expert testifying to the composition of said anchors. I'm sure the DA is not paying an Expert to state that the composition of the cement in the anchors AND on Laci's legs(or what's left of them) and bits stuck to the duct tape, is Different.!!
Good God. I thought that sort of thing only happened in hockey games!
If Scott TOLD them he left between 10 and 10:30, he's confirmed our suspicions we've had ever since we heard about the cellphone call logged by the tower by his house at 10:08!
Imagine him leaving at 10:15! Then three whole minutes later Laci, WHOM HE SAW ALIVE AND WELL AS HE WAS LEAVING THE HOUSE, is gone, and McKenzie is returning home like the riderless horse in a western movie! Yeah... RIGHT!
THAT'S what is said Dev. I really don't know much about that technology BUT I know that they searched the same general area over and over and over AND they sent in divers. The statement that I read was that WHEN they spotted the her body "it was still full with child"!!
This sonar business just doesn't ring true IMO. Especially the part about reading the label on her slacks. WHAT?? Unless she had them on wrong-side-out, the label would be against her body and not visible. If the label part isn't true, I seriously doubt any of the rest of this story is true. So much rumor, so little testimony.
I thiink he's just going to CHALLENGE the validity of the evidence and all the people using it and the condition of the evidence, etc. etc. etc. Who knows, maybe THIS is what caused him to "suddenly" come up with a witness to seeing Laci sitting in this damn boat!
I'm not so sure that Geragos has to turn his witness list over to the prosecution in advance. But I don't know CA law.
Apparently CA law has so much prosecutorial disclosure that the state has to give ITS witness list to the defense in advance... in other states, that's not the case. In some other states, the state can deny the defense an advance copy of its witness list.
OTOH, the DA may know very well who Geragos plans to have testify that Laci was at the warehouse when the boat was there. But the DA just doesn't believe that the incident really happened--doesn't believe the witness--so they can speak and argue as though it never happened.
IOW, after whoever it is testifies for the defense, the DA will cross-examine them and maybe discredit them, and then go on to argue that the incident the warehouse witness is telling never really happened.
As for someone who might perjure themselves for Scott... maybe he had a honey who had an adjoining warehouse or something?
PART CHEMICAL - PART CIRCUMSTANTIAL???
If they have even just ONE anchor from the Bay, and if it chemically matches the one that Scott still had in his possession, then that, to me, would be their most powerful evidence yet!
And as you've said, yes, we know that cement differs in different places. The mix is different. But the mix of mortar and the particular type of stones in it... it is very distinctive and two items made from the same batch are going to be the same--as you've said!
Who was it that said Laci sat in the damn boat? MG said he would provide a witness that would testify Laci had been to the warehouse when the boat was stored there and therefor was aware Scott had bought the boat.
I'll just betchya that her Mary Jane sandals were turned around backwards on the riderless horse too!!
