A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

The first day of Summer is Monday, June 21st - the longest day of the year.
What Is Summer?
Summer is the beach And ocean waves crashing over the rocks. It is the feeling of smooth sand underneath my feet And the hot sun on my back. It is the taste of a cold, chocolate ice cream cone And the sound of seagulls screeching in the air, Searching for food. It is the smell of the salty ocean air around me And the sight of fishing boats floating out to sea. Summer is a warm and enjoyable season.

Oh, that's too bad that you can't hear them. The Girl From Ipanema midi is one of the better ones, I think.

Well maybe the problem is that the properties ends in mid, not midi.
But then again, they might only play in Real Player, which I had to delete cause it took over my computer with all kinds of spy ware...LOL
Oh, and yeah, I guess I didn't read your disclaimer. Sorry, I learned that from Laz.

Wasn't it Getz and Gilberto that did the Girl From Ipanema originally? It's one of my favorites too.

Yea...
:>(
That is what I thought this was...
I finally got it to play.
I will have to find out how to get it on my computer, so we can hear the "real" one.
Getz was...well..."involved" with Austrud (probably spelled wrong) Gilberto apparantly...which gave it an edge.

Oh gosh, I just love that song...
Tan and lovely, the girl from Ipenema goes walking, and when she walks the men all go ahhhhh
But she doesn't care...
Geeze, I wish I could remember the rest of the words...LOL

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes goes - ah
When she walks, shes like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes goes - ooh
(ooh) but I watch her so sadly
How can I tell her I love her
Yes I would give my heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at me
Tall, (and) tan, (and) young, (and) lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile - but she doesnt see (doesnt see)
(she just doesnt see, she never sees me,...)
