President Bush is wise in his decision. The federal government should play no part in singling out any lifestyle-minority for special celebrations at the taxpayers' expense. This is simply none of the federal government's business, and for the life of me, I cannot fathom why any group should think that we taxpayers should fund one full month of celebrations promoting and condoning (or at the very least, giving the appearance of condoning) their particular lifestyle choice. Just as the gays have declared Gay Days at Disney World, they are free to declare any month they like as their own Gay Pride Month. Just don't as the federal government to pay for it, provide facilities for it, or provide time off for participation.

The only question is - When does it reach the point when conservatives finally say 'enough is enough'? What is going to be the fuse that finally sets it off?

That's one of the very few dissapointments I voice about GW-That he hasn't undone the PC environment that the Klintoon's implemented. He'll have nothing to lose after re-election, so there's still hope.

White History Month is EVERY MONTH EXCEPT FEBRURARY!

Not really. The approach to history has become so muticultural that no one can claim it is white history anymore. Likewise, the English departments now cater to women-minority-homosexual literature that the "classic" authors (including Jane Austen) are not studied any longer.

"you're a homophobe because you don't like gays! Is that fair? Of course not, but that's how you Republicans think"

Wow, what ignorance and irony. The first part of that denotes that he is trying to make a point that stereotyping is wrong...but then he stereotypes Republicans.

I never buy into that idea of calling somebody a 'homophope'.
People are not afraid of them. They just dislike them...or could care less about them....and are fed up with the philosophy that it should be some sort of law that they can force their views into our lives.

Well now, there is a lot to say about 'tolerance'; but don't expect a lot of us to take pride in this lifestyle! It seems the 'hateful' comments go both ways, don't they? It's pretty funny when some of these people in the article don't get what they want; they run and threaten to sue! Try as they may, they'll never force the rest of us to take 'pride', and glorify this behavior. They have no right! They also have no right to shove it down the kids throats in school, or anywhere else! Furthermore, they have no right to take our tax money to subsidize it!

Oh, and don't go claiming that I'm 'homophobic'; because I have 3 cousins that I know are gay, and they are some of the nicest people I know. Also, they live quiet lives, and mind their own business! The fact that they are gay, and living in that lifestyle, makes me sad. But I don't hate them, or reject them as people(one is my godson)!

Besides as I said, they live quiet lives otherwise. I wouldn't have even known they were gay, until others in the family told me! They aren't loud, pushy people, and not the type to advertise their orientation. And I don't believe they would approve of the behavior of some of these activists, or approve of "Pride Month", and taxpayer funding of it! So, there you have it!

"We have continued to be boxed in a Catch-22 because agencies are saying that they can't provide support or statements unless the White House puts forth a proclamation," he said. "And of course the White House has not."

How is this a "Catch-22" when everyone on both sides are saying, NO!!!!

hehe wonderful

You might apprecitate this beauty I had yesterday from a different forum I post regularly in ~

"...The whole idea is that voicing your hate toward someone for things over which they have no control over, such as race, religion or sexual preferences, is reprehensible. (Oh an don't even begin to argue about the "having control with" part with me again)...[sic]"

I believe it is called "denial" is it not?

I'd have to disagree about the impact of slavery on building America's economy. Few liberals who bring up the history/effects of slavery know much of the history surrounding the practice in the Western Hemisphere.

First, America did not become an economic power until AFTER slavery was abolished. The practice of slavery was NOT widespread in the United States and its use was primarily limited to the Southern States. The economies of those states and much of the economic gain that resulted from using slave labor was essentially destroyed during the War Between the States. Economic gain as a result of slavery in the South was centered in the hands of a few wealthy landowners and benefited the industrialized New England States and Europe (recipients of the agricultural exports) far more than it did the three-quarters of southerners who owned no slaves and lived primarily as small, poor dirt farmers Slavery in the United States.

Many liberals like to claim that America's power was built on the backs of slave labor but substantiating that claim is problematic. Consider that only 5% of African slaves that were transported to the western hemisphere were delivered to what would become the United States. Congress made the importation of African slaves illegal in 1808. Thereafter until 1865, only the domestic slave trade was legal. Thirty-four percent of African slaves bound for the Western Hemisphere went to Brazil (who did not abolish slavery until 23 years following the abolition of slavery in the U.S.), twenty-two percent to the Spanish colonies in Central/South America and thirty-eight percent to the Carribbean region (Cuba, Haiti, Dominica, West Indies, etc) Slave Distribution in the Western Hemisphere. If more means better, slavery certainly proved no economic boon to those regions. In fact, it can be argued that reliance on slave labor actually stalled the emergence of the U.S. as an economic power because slavery meant economic reliance on agriculture. Only after industrialization and the shifting of the work force from primarily agriculturial to primarily industrial did America become an economic power.

As to the issue of "gay pride", who are the gays trying to convince about that "pride" in being homosexual, themselves or everyone else? I suggest that by actively seeking the sanctioning of public displays, they are attempting to coerce public approval for their lifestyle choices. Homosexuality is NOT a race nor is it a lineage passed on through birth. It is a lifestyle choice and I hardly see the need to set aside a month to celebrate a lifestyle choice. In fact, homosexuality should not be celebrated at all.

You seem to be under some delusion that anal sex, where the tearing of tissues that leads to bleeding is quite common, is somehow as safe as vaginal sex. AIDS, hepatitis, etc. are FAR more easily caught via anal sex due to the bleeding issue. Combine this with the promiscuity rate among gay men, and you have the making of a plauge. See "And the Band Played On" for more details.

Yes, vaginal sex has it's risks as well. But when once considers both the nature of the practice, and the frequency of changing partners, it is far safer. This is why Republicans, in addition to being wary of gays, don't like to date skanks. (As opposed to your buddy Clinton.)

Are Republicans scared of sex? NO. We are knowledgable of the consequences of STUPID sex. And as Republicans, we are irked when we are asked to bail out others who live for the moment and let the consequences be damned.

Regarding public sex: yes, I live in the real world. A very real world where the bathroom by my track is advertised on real websites like Squirt, CruiseTool, Cruising For Sex, and numerous others.

How would you like it if your sports club, which wants to attract youth to get them in shape, has to deal with fruits giving hummers in the john, oblivious to all? Or the same thing happening at the highway rest stop just south of Flint? Not to mention the janitor bills to clean up the mess and to repair the "glory holes" that they make.

Regarding recruiting, it has happened to me in such notable gay hotspots as Flint and Houghton, Michigan (as well as LA and SF).

Regarding problems with chickenhawks keeping their hands off the kiddies, it happened with the pastor of my brother's church in Flint. I now have Father Turdburgler, who soddamized young boys, in many of my relative's church ceremony photos.

I'm not a sad man. I'm an aware man. I'm not afraid for myself, as I can fend them off, and I'm very choosy in who I date. But I fear for those who can't defend themselves (like the victims of the priest), or who fall prey to the gay marketing machine.

I always find it very revealing that homosexuals boast of the sin of pride. I can't find one positive reference to pride in the whole Bible. Yet the homosexuals revel in it.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. (Proverbs 8:13)

Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. (Mark 7:22)

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1John 2:16)

the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Federal Employee’s organization

Wouldn't it be something if some federal employees founded a "Heterosexual Federal Employee's Organization"? Can someone tell me why it's so important for these folks to make sure everyone knows about their sex life?? I mean, W-H-Y is a private sexual relationship worn like a badge? Help me see!!!

"I was sanguine that they would make a different determination this year, and I look forward to being surprised."

"I was 'sanguine'"????? Oh boy...

That's fine - let's keep the government out of bedrooms. And while we're at it, let's keep bedroom activity out of government!

How about some real diversity as we all ready have Black History, Asian Pacific, Native Americans, Hispanic months; female celebrations.... Maybe American could find to recognize the white male for his contribution in taking "preferences" thereby allowing minorities and females to step past them in the Federal Workplace and for College, loans, etc. Might even note that whites are now fast becoming a minority themselves. <P:Recommend we recognize the Gays for their contributions just as one would recognize those who participate in partial birth abortions, e.g., with revulsion.
