President Bush will be in Spokane, WA on Thursday, June 17th for the Nethercutt campaign. Join us to welcome the President with a rally in support of him in front of the convention center on Spokane Falls Blvd. We plan to be there from 4pm till 7pm. Bring signs (positive ones only) and flags and wear your red, white and blue. Wear Bush buttons and pins.
See y'all there BUMP
We need to do better then 40% in King County. We need at least 45%, and around 48% to really be safe.
That said, I think Bush can carry this state. For the first time in forever, the state party seems to have it's act in gear as far as organization and recruitment (minus finding a challenger for MY scumbag congressman Jay Inslee).
I'm excited about Rossi and McKenna, they are both excellent candidates, and will be formitable. I'm also very excited about Dave Reichert. He'll coast in the 8th IMHO, and will be a fast rising star. Mark my words: He will be our Governor or Senator one day.
But the one I am most excited about is Nethercutt. Nethercutt has assembled a crack team, and is a smart and relentless campaigner. He's clearly got the other Washington on board, and this race is the race I think we have the best shot at. I'd honestly put it at a straight toss up.
George is doing better than expected at this time in the campaign so he's ahead of target. Latest polling has W only down by 1 point in the presidential race! Yeehaw!!
Firstly, among all the hundreds of lefties protesting Bush (yes, we were outnumbered), there were less than a dozen Kerry supporters (and I'm figuring there were probably a half-dozen I didn't see). The rest were all about hating Bush. That's not going to win the election.
I was arguing with some teenage leftie whackos (to give you an idea, they claimed that "a few weeks ago" a couple of Arabs had been arrested for playing paintball and had already been sentenced to life imprisonment "under the Patriot Act"), and I asked them if they were for Kerry, and they said "We don't like him, but he's better than Bush." The one thing I said that seemed to penetrate the miasma of ignorance was that swing voters aren't going to vote on that basis, and that if "He's not Bush!" is all they had to offer, it would be very fun beating them in November. It seemed to depress them.
And of course, that is all they have to offer.
Secondly, the loudest people on the left are those most calculated to send swing voters to Bush. They are obnoxious, and offensive, and obscene, and have nothing to offer but hate. They make the Clinton-haters (who at their worst, even I found embarrassing) look moderate. The Kerry Kampaign and its media allies can't keep them under wraps forever. They will drive away many of the old FDR-Truman Dems who went over to Reagan and came back under Clinton and Gore. It's not their party any more.
Remember how well Clinton-hatred worked for Republicans? And I think people knew we were basically right about Clinton.
On the other hand, I saw precisely one Bush supporter who seemed to be a whacko, and he was just passing through.
We also got to see the President's motorcade go by (some people saw it go both ways; I was at the other end of the thing when he came in). Some people actually saw the President wave as he whizzed by, but I missed it.
For the first time--considering today's events, as well as the recent stories about the Bush campaign's much better grassroots organization--I think we have a better than 50-50 chance of winning Washington.
Oh, and I did a standup with KREM-TV, so you may have seen me on TV (navy blue Bush cap and polo shirt).
Great rally, BTW. I was heartened to see so many Bush/Nethercutt supporters. Different than our other Spokane rallies...
Remember how we hated Clinton? Hated, hated, hated Clinton? Remember how some of us were driven to the brink of madness because the American people seemed to like the filthy rotten [censored]ing [censored] son-of-a-[censored]?
We even had our own Howard Dean--Pat Buchanan, who (unlike the Dems' Dean) actually managed to win a primary.
Then we came to our senses, realized that Buchanan--even though many of us agreed with him on many things--was a bit too flaky for the mainstream, and settled for a stodgy, colorless war hero Senator, because he as nice and safe and "electable."
And we rallied behind him and said, "Vote for Dole! Uh, because he's not Clinton! And he's a war hero!"
Any of this sound familiar?
Clinton 49.23%, 379 EV
Dole 40.72% 159 EV
Perot 8.40% 0 EV
OK, Nader's no Perot, but then again, the election's likely to be a lot closer this time. And I'd say our support for Dole was stronger than the left's support for Kerry. And we still couldn't come up with a compelling reason for the swing voters to go for Dole. We tried to make the election a referendum on the incumbent, because we thought people would vote against Clinton. We were wrong, and the left is even wronger.
And, last but not least, Bush is an infinitely better man than Clinton, and everybody knows it.
there was a young guy, a little obnoxious in his hatred of our President, but he was also a little testy with the cops....
he moved away and I just saw him on TV in HANDCUFFS!!!!!!.....lol
we were greatly outnumbered and also, we have got to get much more animated in our demonstrations....
I found myself defending the Prez agaist some very loud and obnoxious people, and most of our side just stood there....
we have go to get more people that can be loud and passionate....
what all communities need is a strike force:......a long list of names of people that can come out to a demonstration on a moments notice....
we need to get organized....
the left is....but afterall, all they need to do is send a few wacky students over.....
if we are going to win the war, we have got to be soldiers .........
unbelievable....
This tracks very well with my own observations. I don't see how those numbers are going to add up in Kerry's favor come November.
The WH wouldn't be here if they didn't think that Netercutt was in striking distance. I think he's got the best chance of unseating and incumbent of anybody in the country. Thune/Dashle is close, but I'm tempted to say this is an even better chance.
I could not agree with you more. So....have you contacted the local GOP and you are helping with my effort for gaining recognition for the efforts of our troops. Operation Homefront? ;)
Great posts Scott. Glad you are on our side.
I was there too with my wife and daughter. We were outnumbered by hippies and freaks. But, we outnumbered them with IQ. Definitely.
