Heinz Kerry says why she joined Democrats
AP | 6/14/04 | EMILY FREDRIX

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Teresa Heinz Kerry says anger, not ideology, prompted her to become a Democrat. The wife of Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, says her emotion stemmed from the way the Republican Party, to which she had pledged allegiance, treated Democratic Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia in 2002.

Cleland, who lost both legs and an arm as an Army captain during the Vietnam War, lost his re-election bid in a bitter campaign against then-Rep. Saxby Chambliss. The GOP had raised questions about Cleland's patriotism because of his position on legislation to create the Department of Homeland Security. Cleland supported the concept behind the department, but insisted that a workers' rights provision be part of the bill.

Heinz Kerry, in an interview to be broadcast Tuesday on the "CBS Evening News," says Cleland's status as a triple amputee is enough to prove his patriotism.

"Three limbs and all I could think was, 'What does the Republican party need, a fourth limb to make a person a hero?' And this coming from people who have not served. I was really offended by that. Unscrupulous and disgusting," she said, her reference being an indirect one to President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

Neither Republican served in Vietnam. Bush served stateside in the Texas Air National Guard, and Cheney received five student deferments from service during the war.

Kerry volunteered to serve in Vietnam and earned three Purple Hearts, and Silver and Bronze stars for his efforts commanding a swift boat on the Mekong Delta. Earlier in the campaign, opponents of Kerry had raised questions about his military service and whether he deserved the military honors.

Heinz Kerry had been a registered Republican until Kerry, her second husband, announced his bid for the White House. Her first husband, Republican Sen. John Heinz of Pennsylvania and the Heinz prepared foods heir, was killed in a plane crash in 1991. She inherited a fortune estimated at more than $500 million.

In the interview, John Kerry is asked about criticism of his wife, who has a reputation for being blunt and outspoken.

"When it's silly stuff, and a lot of it is incredibly unfactual, I get angry about it," he said.

Asked for three words to describe his 65-year-old wife, who is five years his senior, Kerry said: "Saucy, sexy, brilliant."

She responded: "I'm cheeky, I'm sexy, whatever. You know, I've got a lot of life inside."

A liberal interest group will begin airing a new television commercial Tuesday in four battleground states that calls President Bush "a failure of leadership" and criticizes Vice President Dick Cheney's ties to Halliburton.

MoveOn.org's political action committee will spend about $1 million over a week, a hefty amount, to run the 30-second ad in Missouri, Nevada, Ohio and Oregon.

The ad accuses Bush's administration of giving Cheney's former company no-bid contracts to work in Iraq "on a silver platter."

"Then," the ad says, "the Pentagon caught Halliburton overcharging $61 million for gasoline. Worse, they billed over $100 million dollars for meals for our troops that they never delivered. And George Bush is still doing business with them."

Steve Schmidt, a spokesman for Bush's re-election campaign, said: "This is another incredibly misleading ad from an organization completely outside of the mainstream of American politics."

Separately, The Media Fund, another Democratic group, ran new radio and newspaper ads in Kansas City, Mo., criticizing his record on health care and prescription drug costs. Bush visited the state Monday.

He was on base, too, at the time.

I dunno about you, but I wouldn't vote for an (R) dumb enough to do that, either.

I used to be in favor of democrats flying kites near high voltage power lines. Then I discovered that this attitude was wrong. Whenever the kites struck the power lines, my electric service would go out. I couldn't watch TV, pop popcorn or read Ann Coulter's latest book at my bedside lamp.

Now I'm in favor of democrats simply leaping off tall bridges, provided the result doesn't block the road on my way to work.

I'd bet good money that the ketchup queen wouldn't have been able to tell you WHO max cleland was back in 2002.

This excuse is the best they could conjure up for her to use.

Disgusting.

Personally, very much enjoying my 60th year here on earth , I think there is something very wrong with a woman this age who uses this term as her primary way of describing herself.

Do not get me wrong here, now. Those of us who are on the downhill side of 50 are still quite in "touch with our feelings", but we have grown beyond just carnal pleasure in our world interests, and usually have primary values beyond our genitals with which to communicate our interests, wisdom, and experience.

Teresa Kerry sounds like she is hoping for a great interview in "Cosmo" on her favorite positions and techniques to keep an aging guy's morale boosted. And, having seen John Kerry's legs, she sure isn't all that picky about who she chooses to bed down with.

Disgusting for an old woman to still be chasing the "youth culture". Nice role model for our girls, as if the prime goal in life is between the sheets.

I do not want any more "sex talk" from the White House. I think we have had quite enough of that kind of news from D.C.

The elderly Tah-Ray-Za Heinz Kerry must think money and brains are synonymous. Actually money can buy husbands but she certainly can't brag about her ability in the purchase of her current gigolo.

She can make up as many reasons as she wants for turning against the Republican Party. The fact of the matter is that she was sleeping with a known traitor and enemy to his country long before she married him. Max Cleland had nothing to do with it. And how hypocritical of her to take the Republicans to task over Cleland, when she took up with the man who spat on every soldier who ever served in Vietnam. This woman is disgusting.

Teresa is a perfect example of Rogue's Law:

The absence of strong males in all areas of the Democrat Party has created a testosterone vacuum that is filled by the women.

By James Neal, Associated Press, 11/25/2003

SEATTLE -- The wife of Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry said yesterday that suspected terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay should be given prisoner of war status.

"They were captured while fighting a war," Teresa Heinz Kerry said at an informal discussion with minority activists in Seattle. "They should have the rights that other prisoners of war have had."

"Heinz Kerry said that denying the detainees the protections of the Geneva Convention is "insulting, ignorant, and insensitive" to the rest of the world.

She added that under President Bush, the United States, once known as the standard-bearer for human rights, is now considered a hypocrite."

"The arrogance shown by this administration on human rights and in its foreign policy is horrible," she said."

Teresa uses " arrogant " as much as her boy toy.

Boston Magazine, July 2003 issue, " The Candidate's Wife," Victoria Griffith :

"And there's another trait that Teresa Heinz possesses, one that interviews have yet to capture, but, which is known to her employees, the sales clerks at the stores where she shops, and her Beacon hill neighbors.."

" Her temper."

" Heinz Kerry sometimes appears to operate at the very edge of what is considered acceptable behavior, according to many people who have seen her."

The article goes on to detail how shop keepers shudder when her limo approaches.

"This conduct is so widely known in the retail world, that a woman who works in one Newbury Street boutique says she's grateful Heinz Kerry does so much of her shopping in Washington and not here."

Heinz Kerry is apparently a chronic complainer and very vocal in humiliating the " little people."

In 1996, during the Kerry's first Halloween on Beacon Hill,( where families traditionally answer the door, not the servants )-the Kerry's had their housekeeper answer the door.

"After most of the trick or treaters had finished their rounds,Heinz Kerry made an appearance, when three children of about 10 years old, rang her bell, two dressed as hippies and one as a cat."

" I had a big barrel of candy and it's all gone !" she screamed and slammed the door on the bewildered youngesters."

The wife of a Massachusetts Senator-maintains her legal residence-in Pennsylvania- to shield her fortune and protect Kerry's allowance.
And no one in the media calls " the rich don't pay enough in taxes " Kerrys on their hypocrisy.
No one.

Teresa Heinz Kerry has given interviews to the Washington Post and Village Voice, where she stated that Kerry, to this day, has nightmares where he "screams and flails at night" and "screams and bangs on the walls of his bedroom."
These are not isolated,but,nightly occurences.

Teresa has also indicted to the Washington Post that Kerry has either been in counseling or is in need of counseling for his bizarre behavior.
Teresa has given interviews where she clucks that she is Kerry's "nursemaid ",that Kerry is so " emotionally needy " and that she has to oversee everything he eats and drinks.

Everytime I see Kerry on his wife's dead husband's Gulfstream, I am amazed that Teresa actually named it, " the Flying Squirrel."

We can assume she named it in honor of some move by Kerry when he's wearing his hairnet to bed.

I live in Georgia too, and I voted against Cleland because he forgot who sent him to Washington. He supported every Bill Clinton fart and burp. He voted against impeachment, and he towed the party line for the Clintons even when he knew his votes were in opposition to Georgia's interests.

Cleland was a lazyass senator, Georgia's very own stinky "mackeral in the moonlight".

Saxby Chambliss never said Cleland was unpatriotic, and neither did the RNC, but that pathetic whine became Cleland's mantle of mourning. One of the senate's weakest minds, Cleland is positively radiant onstage with Kerrey...as if he's been given a new lease on life....getting back at Bush for campaigning against him.

Having no legs isn't what makes Cleland a very small, small man.

It is as if they think the highest office in this great nation is a TV show sitcom for senior citizens who want to be young hippies again. There is such a contrast in character, style and substance between President George W. Bush and his wife Laura Bush and Senator John F. Kerry and his wife Teresa Heinz. No one has any excuse to vote for Kerry or against Bush.
