I dunno. I heard shortly after Reagan's passing that Federal offices would be closed on Friday. State agencies in Texas were closed on Friday.
I loved Ronald Reagan and he deserves his honors and accolades. But taking a day off? Any port in a storm, I guess.
I can't speak for anyone else, but as a conservative American woman (and knowing a bit of the history of the Red Cross), I for one could care less what they say or demand or want or even ask nicely pretty-please with sugar on top for.

Oh, I see what you're getting at. I guess the CiC decided to shut down federal facilities in the federal city for the day, given the funeral? And he can't really give the feds the day off in just one place. And the states follow the feds like lap dogs anyway, so that's not surprising. Maybe that's it :-)
