Just got home about half hour ago but had been listening to the ceremony on radio since 8:00 our time. Felt tears welling up several times on the way home, and started plain old blubbering once. Unfortunately I got home to the teevee just in time to hear Ron's cheap shot at G.W.
When the captain of the USS Reagan presented Nancy the flag, I totally lost it. Then, when she went up to the casket and put her cheek to it, I had to leave the room. It took me a few minutes to regain my composure and log on to FR.
Something I've been pondering in the back of my mind all evening: are we witnessing a rebirth of the America we grew up in, or are we seeing the symbolic burial of that nation that the leftists have tried to kill?

Ouch, that is the question, isn't it? Well, in tribute to our beloved Ronnie, we must believe it is the former; the rebirth of what we hold dear.

I believe that this was the week that America took it's country back from the band of haters that would denigrate us all for our beliefs, our values, and our love of country.

You just put into words a feeling I couldn't pin down all week. I hope a rebirth.

Something I've been pondering in the back of my mind all evening: are we witnessing a rebirth of the America we grew up in, or are we seeing the symbolic burial of that nation that the leftists have tried to kill? A question I've been pondering the past few days, too. The only answer I've come up with is: Pray it's the former, and if it's the latter...pray.

Something I've been pondering in the back of my mind all evening: are we witnessing a rebirth of the America we grew up in, or are we seeing the symbolic burial of that nation that the leftists have tried to kill? This is a profound question, and one I am also pondering. Being by nature a died-in-the-wool paleocon, hence a deeply cynical skeptic, I fear it's the latter.
Did you watch the Ronald Reagan festival last night on Turner Classic Movies? That was one of the most inspiring, yet depressing, experiences I've ever had at the movies. Masculine, gentle, earnest men, like Cary Grant, William Holden, and Ronald Reagan, could never find work in the movies today. As I said to my parents this evening - Hollywood [as we know it now] is beyond corrupt - it's a giant vaccuum that sucks the life out of the world.
And any star that showed up at the ceremony this evening could kiss his career goodbye.
