Good grief, can't even find a person in his own party? The rats NEVER tire of flouting rules... Disgusting behavior.

This is a tough one. IF McCain were to accept Kerry's offer (which he won't) Napolitano could appoint a replacement until the next general election. In this case it would be the normal election cycle. BUT since this is a selection and nomination process at the convention and not a primary, he may not be an official candidate until that time. If that is the case he wouldn't have to resign until the convention and there would not be a lot of point to appointing a replacement for two months. It would actually be a handicap for the appointee as they would have to be in Washington for at least part of that two months.

At any rate Napolitano is required to appoint a person OF THE SAME PARTY to any vacancy. She cannot appoint a Democrat.

Interestingly, if this scenario occurred and she did appoint a replacement for two months, the seat would have to be declared vacant and whoever won in November could be sworn in immediately upon certification, even though it is a normal election cycle. This would give them 2 months seniority over the new class, which can be important in the Senate.

John F*ckin's real problem is any Veep would look better than he is on the campaign trail. The Democrats have nominated someone who would make a passable Vice President but who really doesn't look as if he belongs in the Oval Office. Even the media's favorite Republican knows it.

As a liberal, John F*ckin' inspires little cross-over appeal. And even his own base isn't exactly going gaga over him.

You're right. All his life McInsane wanted to be President and he'd be the last person to play second fiddle to any one, much less than to a wealthy Brahmin from the Bay State who couldn't find his own behind with his hands if his life depended upon it.

The only circumstance under which McInsane would accept John F*ckin's offer would be if the latter agreed to be No. 2 on the ticket. The fact of the matter the Democrats' nominee is too self-absorbed to put the country first. Its all about HIM.

Several days ago FoxNews showed a clip of McCain saying that he'd spent years being kept in the dark when he was in a VietNamese prison camp. And why would he want to go back to that by being Kerry's runningmate??

It was a good clip from McCain and Brian Kilmeade said that at that point, Brian believed McCain meant it when he said NO to Kerry.

For one thing, if McCain were to try running for VP he'd have to resign as senator of Arizona. We don't allow dual campaigns here... you're running for one office, you quit your existing one immediately.

Didn't Joe Liberman run for Veep and Senator simultaneously?

Yes, but that's Connecticut. Arizona doesn't allow that. :)

Indeed. The media keeps serving up polls with "Bush is losing!" results.

If the media polls are in fact, accurate, then why would Kerry even bother offering the VP slot to McCain?

Possible reasons

Makes me wonder how many people are willing to be Kerry's VP when he goes down in flames.

Yes, Barry and also Liddy and Hill in the afternoons. Joe Crummy (sp?) is also very likeable. I used to like Bob Mohan but he got a bit silly later in his career.

I heard Brit Hume (or someone on Fox) say that the Slime's poll was juiced up with an additional 13% of Demonrat voters! How about that?

I believe this is just a deliberate leak to make Kerry look more bi-partisan etc. I don't think he ever wanted McCain as VP. This is gamesmanship.
