I really wanted to go, too. I was ten when he was first elected, and for some reason, no amount of harping from the press could make me dislike him (or Nancy). After I read "When Character Was King" (Peggy Noonan), I fell in love with him, so to speak. But, alas, my daughters are 5 and 2, and though we are a mere 4 hours away from DC, there is no way on Earth that the girls would have been up for a trip over there (with only Mommy!) and then standing in line for as long as some did! But I sure do wish I could have gone. It must have been amazing.

Do you think we'll be allowed to leave something at the grave at the library in California? We will eventually get there when the girls are older.

I don't know whether they will let people visit the grave or not, but I hope so. I understand why you felt you couldn't go, but we saw people with strollers and very young kids there. If there would have been any way to coordinate it ahead of time, my wife and I would have been happy to help you watch your kids (I guess that isn't much help now though).
