TEL AVIV, Israel, June 11 (UPI) -- A Palestinian couple frustrated over their inability to marry approached Israeli lines hoping to be shot together, it was reported Friday.

Soldiers suspected the couple were not militants and held their fire, the Yediot Aharonot newspaper said on its Web site.

The couple in their late 20s have been friends for six years and upon questioning, told officials they could not marry because of a dispute between their families, a military source told United Press International. They decided suicide was their only option.

They approached the Kfar Darom settlement early Wednesday. The woman dropped her bag when soldiers approached and hugged the man when soldiers pointed their guns at them. Soldiers asked the woman to move aside so they could search the man, but she would not let go of him until shots were fired in the air.

After searching and questioning the pair, the army released them, confident they were not affiliated with any terrorist organizations.

>>Gd of Abraham is not same as moon rock god named Allah

> Both the President and the Pope have a different opinion

Here's an interesting "what if:" let's say it's the year 1,000 AD, and Christian missionaries have failed to convert the Norse peoples from their pagan faith. However, born amongst the Vikings is a dyanmic leader who leads a warlike reformation of the faith, doing away with all the lesser gods and turning the faith into a monotheistic belief system, with Odin as the Allfather (as Odin was known, anyway). In the process of this reformation, the reforming leader picks up some of the bits and pieces of the neighboring Christian faith (a few tales from the Old Testament, perhaps, exchanging Odin for Yahweh, blending perhaps the Deluge with Ginnungagigap and Armageddon with Ragnarok), thus linking the two religions.

A thousand years pass, and the Norse Odinist monotheism survives, in conflict with Christianity.

Now... since the two Gods share many attributes and some backstory, would it be accurate to say that Odin = Jehovah, even though the historical source of ODin is quite different from Jehovah?

Dancing the streets, the fat woman cheering. You do know that the footage shown was a Palestinian celebration back in the 90s? It had nothing to do with 9/11/2001.

That claim has been debunked numerous times. Been nice knowing you, member since 6/11/04.

AHEM! Complaints and comparisons regarding behavior, and even debates of belief, are fair. Namecalling of that type, however, seems *seriously* out of place here. Rise above it... don't be a DUer.

Careful, you're challenging a legend that has morphed into one of the mostly closely held beliefs of some here. :)

Never mind the fact that Arafat looked like he had seen a ghost and donated blood, and there are many verified examples of Palestinians showing sympathy over the attacks.

i have never been to prison. ....i converted because the truth came to light, as it will for all of you too.

If true (and I have my doubts), then you're the exception. Islam usually attracts the dregs of society -- angry young men devoid of character or direction. It's certainly not surprising that people like that would chose a cult founded by a psycho pedophile as their "religion."

As a Muslim do you denounce the enslavement of african Christians and animists by Arab Muslims?
