I thought that was the excuse he gave for having to pay his "respects" at the Reagan Library. He wouldn't be in Washington, D.C. on Friday. Another, I was there before I wasn't there!
Not quite. He really didn't give an excuse to the press as to why he paid his respects at the Reagan library, and they didn't really prod him. I have speculated (based in part on something I heard on the NYC local news) that he might have done it because he was going to be absent from Wednesday's Congressional state funeral ceremony --- the one VP Cheney, Speaker Hastert and Sen Pres Pro Tempore Stevens spoke at. Kerry attended his 30-year-old daughter's graduation from film school on Wednesday. He's sensitive about being marked as AWOL from the Senate ever since failing to show up for the unemployment insurance vote. Paying respects in Simi Valley before the Congressional ceremony wouldn't have led to as many questions about his whereabouts on Wednesday than if he mugged for the cameras at the Rotunda on Thursday, which may have made more sense from a political point of view.
One might argue that Kerry was mugging for the cameras on Tuesday because he couldn't mug for the cameras on Wednesday, and mugging for the cameras on Thursday wouldn't have done him any good politically, just raised questions about where he was on Wednesday. And as of this morning, I haven't found any Wednesday pictures of Kerry on Yahoo! News. So he must have called the photographers off out of respect for his daughters... sure... That's why there were pictures of them and Kerry leaving an L.A. restaurant Tuesday night...
But this is mere speculation, which has been dismissed by others here. I haven't been as cynical as I usually am about the flippings of Flip-Flop yet so as not to distract us from real issue here --- President Reagan's legacy and funeral.

Oh, I think Gorby was a little astounded at the quite frank admission of talking heads, politicians, those giving eulogies and just ordinary folk that we do credit President Reagan with the defeat of communism and not him. In fact I heard that he even said "are you serious" when asked about it on Fox.
Gorby was gracious to attend the funerals, but we must remember that he is used to speaking in front of liberal audiences on his tours. I have to feel a little sorry for him that no one had a "gorbasm", as Rush says.

As far I know Frenchy was a no show. I wouldn't know Schroeder if he slapped me. The last German Chancellor I can recognize on sight is Kohl.

I agree with you -- best delivery of a speech I have heard him give -- was sitting here thinking that President Reagan would have been so proud as he delivered the eulogy and the world could see what a wonderful President we have saluting another wonderful President.

Rush was quoting Gorby as saying that "nobody won the cold war...instead we all lost". And he went on to quote all the billions of $$$$ spent over 40 years.
Sour grapes from a sore loser if you ask me.

Thankfully, as one has written, God is Merciful. But He does have a requirement. As Christ said, 'no man comes to the Father but via me.' Frankly, I am tiring of your posts about Nancy's faith. You heard someone say in an interview that she was not as devoted as her husband to their faith...and you jumped on it as if it were the gospel truth.
Let Nancy deal with her grief and her faith today, please.

Well, I was cubebound today and missed it all. I have dug through many threads, and now am forced to ask the public....
Does anyone know of planned televised reruns of todays services for President Reagan? I know its's probably considered "old news" now but I really want to see it.
