I'm watching the CSPAN live coverage of Reagan lying in state in the Capitol building.

It's STILL better than anything else on TV.

For all the reverence that the editorial cartoonists have shown President Reagan, I couldn't help but notice that several of them used the opportunity to take cheap shots at President Bush. Par for the course.

Our local cartoonist, Robert Ariail of The State, at least is an equal-opportunity skewerer of politicians. And at least he doesn't draw W looking like a chimp.

Did anyone see the cartoon in USA today yesterday? It had a picture of a dead dragon laying on it's back and the bones of it's ribcage formed the words USSR with the caption "Ronald Reagan, dragonslayer" .

I've been pretty dry-eyed this week but that first cartoon got to me. I have faith that it is absolutely true for him right now.

Even Benson has been a Reaganite this week, with five consecutive pro-Reagan cartoons.

Something's in the air. The Rushmore drawing takes the cake.

Ramirez is so much better than any other cartoonist. This Reagan one is obvious but obvious is good with something so large and where being overly clever will detract from the moment and the subject with self indulgence.

Some of the others are cute, the Rushmore one with Reagan towering over the others is idiotic and probably a subtle mocking.

There have been several good tributes on Cagle's pages, but the slams on Bush and Ashcroft are stupid.

They remind me of the same type slams of RR when he was in office.
