I had noticed this while watching the funeral but caught a few minutes on Fox in which a woman who has written a book titled The Reagans referred to Michael's exclusion and said it demonstrated a dysfunctional family.

She also claimed that Nancy never got along with the adopted Michael and resented his presence.

I cannot say if any of this is true but what I do know is that Reagan's "bio" son is a jerk. At this point, I can see Nancy submitting to Ronny Jr's (or Patty's or both or all three) demands (to keep Michael in the back) for the sake of family peace.

I have to remind myself what my mother says when I'm bickering with my siblings "I have no control over the situation." But I'll be darned if I'd let my kids act exclusive with each other in my presence whether they're two or sixty-two. I'm disappointed this situation wasn't confronted by Nancy. I think Ron Sr. was for her more than a husband, almost a father. She's still getting her primary needs left, and not able to parent effectively. Go ahead and flame me.

It has been upsetting to see this family drama played out like this. It is obvious to everyone that Michael is being shut out of the family.

Michael and the late Maureen were always more normal than than Patti and Ron Jr.! Michael is truly a class act. Patti never had all of her oars in the water, and Ron Jr. might as well be from a different planet.

I think Michael has two children. Not sure if Ron Jr. has any. Ron Jr. knows he can never be the equal of his dad....perhaps that explains his contrary attitude and "political leanings?"

Much will be explained as more time goes on, I am sure. God bless Michael for the love and respect he has for his dad and for what he has obviously always had to endure.

If that is true about Nancy - I'm afraid it confirms my feelings toward her during their tenure. The gall of her "resenting" his presence. Does she think a son is to give up his father and being around him because it "offends" her?

She probably expected him to become unadopted and disappear when she entered the picture - a typical Hollywood view.

Hate to say these things about her because I admire the love and care she gave the President but I always felt she was really a class A very shallow snob who happened to marry a wonderful man.
