DNC DVD
TAS ^ | 6/10/2004 | The Prowler

Posted on 06/10/2004 3:00:24 PM PDT by swilhelm73

The DNC has worked out a deal with the distributor of left-wing extremist Michael Moore's new anti-Bush film that will ensure more than a half-million DVD copies of the film will be distributed nationwide in October 2004, just a month before the general election.

The unprecedented deal, in which the DNC will pay essentially a wholesale price for the DVD. "This could be a huge boost for our grassroots," says a DNC furndraiser. "We have such a network now of folks getting together on a local basis that the movie will give them a reason to gather, perhaps fundraise and certainly expand their circle of friends."

I think this might be legal, even under CFR. They used to do it w/books...probably still do.

But they are preaching to the choir. It isn't going to sway anyone who is committed to W. Anyone who is truly *independent* and not a closet progressive, is going to be disturbed by this movie and the Moore connection, IMO.

I hope they do distribute it widely. Then the USA can get a good hard look at the bile and ugliness that composes the entire substance of the Democrat party today.

Well, my point was more that the Dems went into this CFR thing already planning how they were going to get around it. And the Reps fell for it. And the press could care less.

I'm getting ready to call McCain's office AGAIN. He had to have known that the DNC would stop at nothing to beat Bush. Of course, he's been too busy -- all over the TV talking about Reagan. I have a reminder for McCain -- try the Constitution -- the First and Second Amendment come to mind!

I think this (if it's true) is an incredibly stupid move. It's one thing to use Moore and his fellow extremists when it's convenient; as long as they are given no official role in the party, they can always be jettisoned.

But now, Michael Moore is officially tied to the DNC for the rest of the election cycle. A vote for John Kerry (or Tom Daschle, or Patty Murray) is a vote for Michael Moore.

I don't understand why this would be a violation of CFR. The DNC is paying for these videos, and is getting a wholeasale price because they're buying so many.

Will this be considered a part of the gross of this film? We know MM is gross.

I didn't say it was a violation of CFR. I just don't think McCain thought through the unintended consequences of his law. We cannot answer (or at least if we do, be very careful where the money comes from and the amount) because of the 30 day "quiet" period before an election. You know, the one to protect incumbents! Don't you agree that this movie was done quite well in advance of the 30 day rule and therefore doesn't fall in that category?

The Freep should be on to be first in line to get these things for the campfire before they're used to spin the brain of some otherwise uncommitted voter.

Besides, it will just cost the DNC more money to buy more! He.He.He.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I nominate narby to research the matter and report back on the methods we can use to have the DNC waste their money mailing these out to us FReepers.

Do I hear a second?

Here's a nationwide list of theaters where this "film" will be defecated. I looked around and some states are smart enough not to expose it on any screens. Some multiplexes are shoveling it. I looked at my area to see who I might have to boycott, but the local theater is one I avoid anyway. I think it's in a high crime area. It's a single screen that mostly shows artistic hippy crap. I see many others nationwide that I suspect are the same.
