I missed GW & Laura as I had to help my mother. (The only thing that would have pulled me away) How was their visit?

My daughter is in the Navy. In fact she was with the VS-41 squadron when President Reagan made his trip to the USS Lincoln. She went to work that morning and there was AF One parked next to their hangar. A sister squadron flew the President to the Lincoln.

Blue Angels are coming to OKC shortly to perform. Last time I saw The Thunderbirds they landed and pulled up to the Tarmac to the song by Lee Greenwood of Proud to be an American -- that brings tears to my eyes everytime.

Love aircraft -- been around it most of my adult life -- special breed of folks fly fighter jets -- also some of my favorite people.

It was a short visit, just like Gorbachev's or Walesa's. He and Laura prayed for a few moments, Dubya touched the casket with both of his hands, and they left. Go to the 2nd or 3rd page of this thread, and there are pictures.

Well .. after Daschle's smarmy comment (which is a big lie) about the democrats "allowing" the repubs to make the decisions about the speakers for the funeral .. Daschle will find out he's just as irrelevant.

Daschle's sense of decency is just as small as the rest of him. =-p

you might be right

Or I might be wrong, LOL. From another thread:
"After the speeches, Mr Cheney escorted Mrs Reagan to the coffin to take her leave. She ran her hand along the top, smoothing down the Stars and Stripes several times and murmuring a prayer or farewell to her husband as she struggled to retain her composure."

I went down there on my lunch hour around 1 p.m. to survey the scene. The crowd was easily half of what is reported now. Only half the bike rack lines on the east side of Third St. were filled with people. Tonight it looks like they are filled, with the overflow going over to the west side of Third St. They have set overflow line space to Seventh St. I'm heading over there in an hour or so with some D.C. Chapter members to pay our respects.

There was a thunderstorm watch earlier, but thankfully the storms passed D.C. by.

I have to pass on Russert so soon after my supper

I did today also on Rush's show today, but Rush, IMO was being gracious to Russert for Russert having him on his CNBC show.

But I don't think that Rush was selling a book on Russert's CNBC show either.

Missed GW and Laura paying their respects, though I did see the great news conference today.

No, they didn't clear the rotunda. They did stop the flow of people, though, so that the Bushes could have an entryway.
