I hadn't heard about this. Are they being deactivated, taken down for maintenance, sunspots,...?

I hadn't heard about this. Are they being deactivated, taken down for maintenance, sunspots,...? If it were really going to happen, it would would be for the G-8 summit. However, GPS has far too many civil uses (e.g., cell phones, FAA applications, and the stock market all use GPS-derived time). They're not going to take it down.

There's a joint exercise with some Russians & their military equipment on our terra firma down in the North Carolina shoreline area...and we have 10 carriers now out at sea though the media is only reporting 7.
