And the French merrily accuse Ashcroft of violating civil liberties . . . even as they suppress free speech (Bardot) and freedom of religion (ban on students wearing Muslim scarves or Christian crucifixes to school). They are either hypocrites or abysmally lacking in self-awareness and a capacity for self-criticism.

There is no guaranteed freedom of speech in France. There never has been. Not sure about guaranteed freedom of religion.
