This is one of the most touching tributes I have ever heard. It was Cheney at his most eloquent.
But then, Cheney's task was easy. After all, look who he was eulogizing!

Cheney reminds me a little of Reagan in that he has some of that quiet dignity Reagan had.

Cheney's remarks were perfect for the occasion. Simple, yet moving and powerful words. Getting misty-eyed reading them now.

Liberals are not capable of properly eulogizing a person. If you take out the criticism, cynicism and hate, combined with the fact a liberal is not capable of creative thoughts and all you would have left is; "You know.."

This was marvelous. I haven't had a chance to watch the tape yet, but I caught it on radio. He did a beautiful job.

I thought Stevens speech was too pedestrian and partisan, Hasterts speech was good, but Cheney's was great. Bush should use Cheney's speech writers( although I suspect Cheney himself or his wife may have penned it). In particulat this phrase stuck in my mind:
"He was a providential man, who came along just when our nation and the world most needed him".

I have never seen Cheney do anything except a superb job. His performance in the debates, his speeches, his q&a with reporters have always been exceptional. Such a quiet, dignified, competent man. The gallant, respectful way he escorted Mrs. Reagan to the coffin yesterday...What a class act he is!
