Lt. Gov. John F. Kerry, a Democratic candidate for the US Senate, yesterday recommended elimination of at least $54 billion in spending from President Ronald Reagan's proposed $289 billion defense budget for fiscal year 1985.
Kerry described his proposed list of cuts as "preliminary" at a press conference at the Parker House and said that he believed the US government could freeze defense spending at current levels without any adverse impact on national security.
He recommended cancellation of 27 weapons systems including the B1 bomber, the cruise missile, MX missile, Trident submarine, Patriot air defense missile, F15 fighter plane, Sparrow missile, stealth bomber and Pershing II missile.
He recommended reductions in 18 other systems including the joint tactical air system, the Bradley fighting vehicle, the M1 Abrams tank and the F16 fighter plane.
He said that some of the defense money should be redirected to restore cuts made in domestic programs such as the women, infants and children nutrition programs.
Maybe that's why Kerry has stuck with, "He (Reagan) and I had different points of view... but...." No doubt Kerry is beginning to learn how his record will be papered over the wavelengths with a lie if he tries to say otherwise.
Sounds like a press release to me. Good work. Nails him better than votes in the Senate which his allies have tried to misconstrue.
'Just another day on the campaign trail' for John Kerry...
Sounds like a press release to me.
Add to that "Kerry wants to add 40,000 troops to military--At no cost cost to the taxpayers.
Hitlary announced last week that we need more active duty military. She knows how to be a Commander-in-Chief you know. Suppose that's why she dessimated out military while she was CIC?
See the actual Kerry memo here:

Great find. I just wish the libs in the media would pick up on this. Somehow, I doubt it.
My minister at the time swallowed this liberal BS hook, line and sinker, and began spouting nonsense about Reagan slashing social spending - until I showed him the facts and insisted that he stop LYING from the pulpit. He evidently had no idea that the media were lying to him. (Who'd a thunk it, huh?)
"Kerry wants to add 40,000 troops to military--At no cost cost to the taxpayers."
Here I thought I was well-informed.
When the hell did he say that?
It is so sad that this won't appear in the media. Anyway, the libs would pass it off as being 20 years ago and not important today.
Think I read it at Worldnetdaily.
EVen today, Kerry said in a speech that was billed as "strengthening defense" that he would cut missile defense.
On one hand he is telling us what great threat N. Korea nukes pose to us, and on the other hand, he wants to make sure we stay defenseless against such threat.
This is Kerry's version of "strenghtening our defenses".
A Kerry reaction for todays listeners-and for what it's worth, I'm posting from South Korea now.
"and for what it's worth, I'm posting from South Korea now."
It's worth alot. Thanks for your service.
And...........I am ever so proud to do it.
Some of that pride would diminish if Kerry were CIC though.
I see your tagline says University of Vietnam 1970. Were you there then?
