Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base scheduled for 5 P.M. EDT.
Beginning of procession: 16th and Constitution at 6:00 P.M.
---------
The procession begins at 16 th Street and Constitution Avenue with the ceremonial transfer of remains of former President Ronald Reagan from a hearse to a horse-drawn caisson for the processional to the Capitol. The casket transfer will take place at 6 p.m. and caisson continues east with formal military escort.
The public will be able to pay final respects while the remains lie in state in the Capitol rotunda from 7:00 p.m. through Friday, June 11, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.
One if from President Bush and one is from Cheney.
The ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda was the "state funeral". The ceremony at the National Cathedral on Friday is called something like the National Funeral.
What's your estimate on the crowds? And are they still coming?
I was just passing along what i was told from someone that worked the HG so i guess they told him wrong well.. Oh well RB
Well, it's been a long day. We took The World's Greatest Six Year Old to the procession and she was suitably impressed. I was impressed by the crowd. You can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps, and 'tis true even in death.
I'm not sure.
Jeez, I didn't even think of that. Thanks.
Yes, they are from various cabinet depts. etc and are tradition.
Tell me again who is trying to politicize this funeral?
Got a guess on the crowd numbers?
Not a single person that I heard.....until this thread......indicated there was a funeral today, just the procession leading to lying in state prior to Friday's funeral and then the private internment.
Well, I checked the Reagan library schedule.
I was wrong. What occurred in the Rotunda was a state funeral.
I was wrong....sorry.
A lot of people busted their butts to pull this off without a glitch or an upset. Picking at it is unhelpful. It's done. And it was what it was. Beautiful, if I had to describe it.
You'd think by now they'd get some hint of how out of touch with 90% of us they are when they view the real America at times like this. But no .. they can't even believe what they're seeing and hearing themselves without trying to intellectualize or explain it away somehow. They think they're SO damn smart .. and they're the ones who are truly lost. Liberalism really is a mental disorder.
Yes, and they were.
That doesn't change the fact that in the procession, expressions of support for Nancy, which she clearly appreciated in her response, was appropriate as long as it was kept at a respectful amount, which it was.
I beleive he is either the House or Senate Historian. I caught him the second after he was introduced so I'm not 100% sure.
Fox's crawl on the TV screen said the wreaths represented the three brances of government. Pro-tem Stevens helped with the one representing the Judicial branch, Hastert, the Legistlative and VP Cheney helped with the one from the Execitive branch.
Gee they seem obsessed with drunks. I have heard rumors about Kwissy being a lush, and Brokaw always sounds like he has a hangover and a snootful of snot. Every time I hear Brokaw I want to scream, for god sakes blow your freaking nose. I had FOX on,and just for the helluvit,I tuned on NBC. All they were talking about was politics with Baker and Dole, pure BS. I wanted info about the service, not their innuendo claptrap.
Who was the guy from the judicial branch that saluted the soldier when placing the wreath?
I really wonder if they're not seeing it today/tonight.
