You didn't read the whole post did you? The University of the South at Sewanee employed an obviously liberal marketing firm whose advise was to become a copy of Berkeley in California while eliminating all references to their proud southern heritage.

So a private entity is not allowed to use any marketing firm they wish?

If they want to change their name to Yankee Doodle Union PC U they can do it.

To downplay the word South, the name of the school has now been changed to "Sewanee: The University of the South."

My grandfather was a member of the class of 1903. And this was exactly how he always referred to the school -- he went "to Sewanee, the University of the South".

Moreover, this was how their letterhead and recruiting material read when they were recruiting my son in 1985.

So, I wonder if the writer isn't making more of this affair than exists in reality.
