Perhaps too busy still mourning the loss of his business partner Saddam Hussein, chief French quisling Jacques Chirac is not only refusing to attend former President Ronald Reagan's funeral on Friday, his government doesn't even list a representative who will attend. Despicable scum. Thoroughly lacking in manners, dignity and grace.
On the other hand, the cathedral will smell better.

This is a serious breech of protocal, and a deep insult to the people of the United States.

I've heard Lady Thatcher will be speaking by videotape. Is that in error or, if not, do you know why she'd be there, yet on tape?
BTW, add me to the long list of those glad to see you back, though sorry for the occasion.

I had heard elsewhere that George W. Bush would attend. I guess that he changed his mind. Perhaps John F. Kerry replaced him.

And this is bad?
Perhaps we should review our policy's regarding entry into our country so that we do not allow the allies of our enemies in.

Look at the list of leaders - Thatcher, Blair, Gorby, Walesa, Nakasone - among many others, who ARE attending and there's no comparison.

Doctors have said public speaking is too much of a strain, she may give herself a stroke. The videotaped message was much easier for her to do.
Thanks for the warm welcome...I'm very touched by how warm it has been from everyone.

Chirac Refuses to Attend Reagan's Funeral
Has the Al Qaeda given him a signal that he should stay home for reasons of safety?
To: kattracks
My first reaction is to launch insults his way but this is a very good thing: he simply isn't welcome in the USA.

I read that Mrs. Thatcher will attend, but she's already taped her message.
To: BibChr
Lady Thatcher is in pretty bad shape herself. She's had fainting spells, etc. I think that she has been asked by her physicians to avoid further public appearances.

I remember when the despicable Lyndon Johnson refused to attend Churchill's funeral thus proving me wrong as I'd thought it impossible my opinion of LBJ had any further room to sink.
