I read this guy's book, "How the Atom Bomb Extended the War with Japan". It was very thought provoking. It seems the Japanese had surrendered the day before we bombed Hiroshima. The bomb PO'd them so much that they reneged, so we bombed them again.

Read it.

If I remember correctly, aren't these the same people who said at the time that the Soviet Union was too strong and that we couldn't win the cold war???

Dinesh D'Souza had a GREAT column in yesterday's NY Post about this.

Here's one of the good parts:

Arthur Schlesinger Jr. now:
"Reagan's admirers contend that his costly re-armament program caused the Soviet collapse. Maybe so; but surely the thing that did in the Russians was that time had proved communism an economic, political and moral disaster."

Arthur Schlesinger Jr. in 1982:
"Those in the United States who think the Soviet Union is on the verge of economic and social collapse" are "wishful thinkers who are only kidding themselves."

The only surprise here is that Dims, much like a moth to flame, continue to careen in their downward cycle of self destruction.

Of course they can't openly admit the Reagan years thrust the sword of democracy directly into their collective, socialist innards.

Much like the snakes they are, unless the head is cut off, they will wriggle around, and linger for an interminable period of time, continuing to cause distress.

After November, the Dims, that survive their suicide attempts, will no doubt meet to decide whom, presently in the Democrat Party, must be sacrificed, so that the rebuilding may begin.

We will relish, both the re-election of GWB, and the blood letting that will come, for years to come.

The rewriting extends locally. Monday, on a local radio talk show (KTSA-San Antonio), a man called in and said that even though he was a Democrat, he voted for Reagan and he (Reagan) "was pro-choice" (totally untrue since Reagan spoke against abortion on many occasions and even wrote a book against abortion).

Interestingly, another person called in and said that Reagan couldn't have been very good because his kids said he was a cold man. The radio host kept asking her questions and eventually she said she had never voted for Reagan because she "could still smell the gas" fired from helicopters when she was in a demonstration in Berkley (sp?)!

And on CNN last night, they were trying to show Reagan was not only soft on terrorism, but a terrorist enabler. THeir examples were the Iran-Contra scandal (Reagan made deals with Iran, a terrorist state in the axis of evil and armed the terrorist Contras to help overthrow a democratically elected government) and that Reagan funded and armed the Afghan rebels that turned into the Taliban and Al Quada. In simpler terms CNN was trying to show Regan = good for terrorist, Clinton = bad for terroists. I hate CNN.
