Out of fairness to you NPR sympathizers I listened again, and this self-confessed liberal Keillor guy has a definite sarcastic tone to his voice. Only a fence riding libertine would think Keillor's affected speaking and singing was sincere.
Are you calling me an "NPR sympathizer" or a "fence-riding libertine"?
Throwing dirt around means your probably losing ground.
You're a self-confessed guy who has never listened to him, and wouldn't know his sarcasm from his real character. I have listened to him for twenty years... Let's don't go out of our way to find offense in what "just might be" deeply veiled sarcasm from a guy announcing the death of a man he never claimed to vote for, but respected for his charm. I believe what he said.
We have actual enemies, we don't have time to bother with dissecting real attempts at saying something nice.
That's how GK always sounds. I heard nothing sarcastic in his words or his tone.
Where in my post do I express sympathy to NPR? I'm all for attacking Keillor and NPR when the conditions warrant, but it just isn't there in this case. Keillor didn't say or do anything disrespectful and I think you're engaging in some mind reading to claim otherwise. Now those jerks in the audience are another matter ...
A very unwinsome spirit. I'll probably be leaving you to your own devices.
I will observe, however, that your post is probably the most unReaganlike one on this thread.
