Washington, DC, Jun. 7 (UPI) -- To honor, he says, Ronald Reagan's memory, Sen. John F. Kerry, D-Mass., the Democrats' probable presidential nominee, has suspended campaign activities through Friday, until after the former president's funeral at Washington's National Cathedral and his internment on the grounds of his presidential library in California.

Since he won't be heard from or seen for a week, his poll numbers will go up.

As easily as Ronald Reagan made it to admire him, John Kerry makes it equally as easy to despise him. As he becomes more aware of the futility of his run for the presidency he and his toadies will become unbearable.

"He lived by that noble ideal that at 5 p.m. we weren't Democrats or Republicans, we were Americans and friends," Kerry said in a statement issued Saturday

Perhaps, but Kerry you are an a$$hole around the clock

Not so fast. I think I heard this morning that Kerry will travel to California today to pay his respects to Reagan laying in state. I bet it was a press trial balloon, to see how such a stunt would be perceived by the public.

After reading the following, I suggest Kerry stay away!

"In a 1992 appearance on PBS's MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, on the issue of Bill Clinton's evading service in Vietnam, Kerry attacked Reagan yet again by comparing him unfavorably to Abraham Lincoln, who "didn't serve, but he saved this nation and sent men into combat with moral authority."

Reagan, on the other hand, "certainly was never in combat. I mean, many of his movies depicted him there. And he may have believed he was, but he never was. And the fact is that he sent Americans off to die."

("he may have believed he was"...a typical nasty, stealth, meanspirited aside, that liberals are so fond of.

I'm sure Reagan was a captain in WW II assigned state side, and a Lt. in the Cavalry Reserves. Kerry is wrong again.

He made those statements a long time ago when he was young and stupid. Now he is older and much more stupid.

What I heard this weekend was that Reagan volunteered, but his eyesight was too bad to be sent into combat.

Thank you for posting this. I have been outright disgusted at Kerry and the RATs for their statements this week since they had nothing good to say about President Reagan in the past. Their comments are hypocritical and meant for political purposes only -- would bet behind the scenes they are not saying the same thing.

Sick and tired of Freepers I have never heard of with screen names I don't recognize telling the rest of us how they admire these RATs for their (hypocritical) statements. Not me -- I don't respect hypocrites.

Looks like I have company with this article. I haven't posted much since President Reagan died because what I want to tell these obvious pro-RATs posters where they can go by using the death of President Reagan to praise the RATs who are nothing but a bunch of arrogant, windbag hypocrites!

John F'ing Kerry is not worthy to speak Reagan's name.

Unfortunately, Kerry is right in so far as Reagan never saw combat. But he did serve.

Since I began seeing the tributes to Reagan, I was wondering when the issue of CIC's who never saw combat came to light.

If Kerry wants to jump on the bandwagon for criticizing former presidents for their military service, then he should look no further than LBJ. Not only did Johnson find a way to serve at home without having to see combat, he did so as publicly as possible, for the greatest political gain.

You are correct about Reagan's military service. I looked it up last night:

http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/history/wwii/rr.htm

just a snippet:
"Several years after graduating from college and while employed as a sports announcer by a radio station in Iowa, Ronald Reagan began taking home-study U.S. Army Extension Courses. He enrolled in the program on Mar. 18, 1935 and by Dec. 1936, had completed 14 courses.

He then joined the Army's Enlisted Reserve Corps at Des Moines, Iowa on April 29, 1937 as a private in Troop B, 322d Cavalry. On May 25, 1937 he was appointed a second lieutenant in the Officers' Reserve Corps of the Cavalry and on June 18, 1937, he accepted his officer's commission...."

I'm also pretty sure that Lincoln did serve in the Black Hawk Wars in Illinois, but never saw combat.

Kerry sure is wrong a lot.

his internment on the grounds of his presidential library in California.

I presume they mean "interment", i.e. burial, not "internment", i.e. confining for military purposes.

If the Bush administration would use Kerry's own words in 1997 against him, he'll be done.

After Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Act which called for regime change, Kerry went on television and said that it didn't matter if the UN or our European allies weren't with us, specifically France!!!

History should note that Reagan volunteered to serve in combat in WWII, but was rejected for poor eyesight, and instead served in Hollywood making films to assist the war effort.

You are correct about the Kerry coming to CA. I only hope it's a trial balloon, as you say. I don't want that POS anywhere near here for his "photo op" while his campaign has been suspended out ".....of respect for President Reagan"

HYPOCRITE!!
