Hi Ivan, it's so very good to "see" you again.
Some will, but I doubt that you'll see the sort of abject bile we are reading about today. My Momma taught me that "if you can't say something nice about a person, don't say anything at all". I imagine Bubba's funeral will consist of a whole lotta silence.
I was just over at DU myself (I must be a masochist). They seem to have calmed down some. One of the threads seemed to think that between the disgusting vile comments of some posters and the few who tried to be civil, this represented "diversity".
Others justified the venom by pointing to some of the posts here when Paul Wellstone died. Nice try. While some of the posts here for Wellstone were certainly tasteless, it wasn't even close to the garbage posted on that site.
I guess I'd be mad too if the best I had to match "Mr. Gobachev, tear down this wall" with was "I did not have sexual realtions with that woman".
That's very odd.
Not very many people outside of Georgia heard of Jimmy Carter until 1976, when the presidential election was held...
At the deaths of giants no one hears the natterings of migits
Hey Ivan, great to hear from you again!
We should not post their comment here and in effect give them any type of "standing".
I agree.
I disagree; there will be diaperloads of democRat caterwauling.
I was involved in a late night argument with four liberals last Friday night.
Unbelievable how much they are blinded by their hatred. They were extremely heated and belligerent. The one female was quite shrill. I pulled no punches. You should have seen the looks on their faces when, after they claimed the war was for oil, I pointed out that each one of them drives an SUV. I made sure to use the word, "gasguzzler". My wife is currently driving her 4th Sentra and I drive a 1992 Nissan pick up with 250,000 miles.
The once proud Democratic Party has swung so far to the left and is so hate driven! I really got their goat when I told them that Bush would win at least forty states.
Actually it was great fun.
Sounds like you nailed them with the SUV comment!
Ultimately, liberals are the most greedy of Americans and vote for the candidate who promises to give them the largest monetary gain in the form of cheap loans, grants, entitlements, etc.
Oh thank goodness, you're back.
Stick around, please...
"Ultimately, liberals are the most greedy of Americans and vote for the candidate who promises to give them the largest monetary gain in the form of cheap loans, grants, entitlements, etc."
Yes, they are extremely giving when it involves someone else's money. Of course they justify their argument stating that the money comes from "greedy corporate CEOs who make millions".
Well said!
Have a gander at THIS!
I'm not surprised.
I can just hear President Reagan now saying, "There you go again!"
And to think that at one time the popular perception was that conservatives were angry and dour and liberals were optimistic and positive. That sure changed, didn't it. I think we can thank Ronald Reagan for showing that conservatism can have a happy face. That's what made him what he was. Because he believed in freedom, in America and the people in it.
That's why I'm convinced that George Bush will win the election. Because he has a vision for this country and the world. And all the left has to offer it seems is anger. We learned in 1996 that "where's the outrage?" is not a good campaign slogan.
And when you come down to it, people want to vote for something not against something.
Great observation. Liberals are anti-capitalists, and as such cannot revel in Reagan's legacy. It must be painful for them.
What's more, the eerie semblances between Reagan and Bush must be disconcerting. Reagan had a ranch, wore a cowboy hat, professed openly his belief in God, and engineered the scourge of any lefty, TAX CUTS.
This whole thing must REALLY SMART for liberals.
"That's why I'm convinced that George Bush will win the election."
Me too. I know many who are switching sides this November. Even a few Libertarians! Add to the equation that many Democrats are openly critical of Kerry, and the result will be a low Democrat turnout.
