At one point, we heard there was about a 4 mile back up of cars and other vehicles, just to get to the college where the shuttle busses are located.

What a wonderful show of support for Ronald Wilson Reagan; his family must be proud at the outpouring of love and respect for this great man.

He is gone, but he will never be forgotten.

I want to go to DC. I have a small window of opportunity, maybe twelve hours time there, before I would have to turn around and come back. I wonder if that would be enough time to pay my respects.

I'm betting the hundred thousand they are predicting in DC is going to fall far short.

Have they given any totals on crowd size yet ..??

They said today they were expecting 65,000 - I have a feeling it's going to be a lot more than that.

Current wait in the bus line is over 6 hours. People on the radio are saying it is taking them 2 hours to go one mile on the Freeway.

Amazing, but deserving of such a great man.

Well, they pack the buses, and send them up continuously... when that happens, I think the max is around 2000 an hour... However, I believe there are many more parked at Moorpark College who are hanging to be with fellow Reaganites, but not braving the line for the bus... so 65k might be reasonable there..

That definitely became a part of our decision to turn around. My post from another thread.....

Just got back from my attempt to get to Moorpark College and then on to the Library. We left at 8:45pm from OC and took the 405 to the 101 to the 23. We were stopped short of the Collins exit by about 2.5 miles. KABC radio had a guy in the bus line that had waited 4.5 hours and still had aways to go. Other stations are saying the wait is approaching six hours and growing. I have a 10:00 in San Diego, my wife has a noon flight to Chicago and my daughter works at 11:00 am. We turned around. It took us 30 minutes to get to the point where we could exit via the shoulder at the next exit.

The out pouring of respect from Southern Californians and others that have traveled to this area is immense and impressive. KABC estimated the crowd at the college at 30k and the back-up on the Freeways stretches for miles. God Bless those trying to get to the Library and God Bless the FReepers for what they did.

God Bless President Reagan and his family.

Too bad you couldn't make it, but you were there in spirit. You contributed to the traffic jam, and I think that outpouring is appreciated by the Reagans :)

Does anybody know exactly when the Reagan "lying in state" in the capitol ends?

I could get down there by about 11 pm on Thursday, but I think I may be too late.

After what I have read on this thread and others 100,000 sounds way low. This outpouring is awesome.

Current wait in the bus line is over 6 hours.

Oh my gosh.......remember today when we thought 3 hours was a long time?

And what will all the people who said they were going to get up this morning and go do? OMG.
