Trial set for Texas men accused of funding terrorists
Jun 6, 2004 7:01 pm US/Central
Five brothers whose computer company did business in the Middle East are scheduled to go on trial this week on charges that they made illegal shipments of computer equipment to countries that support terrorism and tried to cover up the deals.
The trial in federal district court in Dallas, however, will not include the most explosive charges in the original indictment, that the men funneled money to the terrorist group Hamas.
The men, all Palestinian-born brothers, are expected to stand trial on the Hamas-related charges this fall.
The men, Ghassan Elashi, Bayan Elashi, Basman Elashi, Hazim Elashi and Ihsan Elashyi, ran a company called InfoCom Corporation, which sold computer equipment and hosted Web sites for groups in the Middle East. The company is also a defendant.
Prospective jurors will fill out questionnaires in court Monday, then will face questioning by lawyers for both sides on Tuesday.
This is just one family of how many...
I would prefer they be called enemy combatants.
Give them a fair trial as combatants, then hang 'em.
Were they also associated with Islamic Association for Palestine? ...
InfoCom hosts many major Muslim-American organisations, including the Council on American Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America and the Islamic Association for Palestine, some of which powerful people within the US have asked to be shut down over allegations of supporting terrorism against Israel. -- "Iraq, its domain and the 'terrorist-funding' owner," by Kieren McCarthy, The Register (UK), Apr. 9, 2003 |

YCT Demands Ron Kirk Donate Contribution from Convicted Felon & Terrorist Bagman to Charity for Victims of Terrorism
Infocom is closely linked to the non-profit Holy Land Foundation (HLF), which was chartered by Elashyi's brother and fellow Infocom principle Ghassan Elashyi. Infocom had its assets frozen last December by the Treasury Department because of the group's ties to terrorist organizations. Curiously, Infocom has owned the domain name binladen.com since August 1997.

These guys was shut down just before 9/11. I can still hear the screams of some here on FR about how the Feds are stomping on our rights, etc.
Oh, how I would love to see that...
I remember posting how I was in favor of the FBI shutting down Islamic terror sites, on Sunday, September 9, 2001 ... I don't know how to find the thread without paging through years of comments ...
Remember - These are the same terrorists who funneled money into Democrat Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk's campaign.
