RE: the funeral--how did "they" decide Pres. REagan's would be so big and in the National Cathedral and all that? Nixon was Pres., but they keep saying Reagan's will be the biggest since JFK's.
Nixon is the first one to decide not to have a state funeral in D.C.
There have been 10 state funerals since the beginning; JFK's is just the last one we've seen.
I've lost it...the music is so touching for this great man whom we all loved.
Nixon could have had it too, but he rejected the DC part of the funeral - he just had the California part at his library.
Regans will be the biggest since Kennedy and maybe even bigger.
Johnson was loved by big government Democrats but the Viet Nam years eliminated him from being beloved.
Nixon was loved by Rhino republicans but Watergate kept him from being beloved.
Regan had huge support on both sides. Many of the Regan Democrats are now counted on the conservative side.
Regan was beloved. His loss will be felt by many.
The Presidents decide what kind of
funeral they want, soon after they
swear in. They can modify it later
if they want. Nixon was very self-
concious about having to resign
in disgrace.
