I remember the JFK funeral very well, I was 19 (yeah, I'm old ;-)

The entire nation was glued to the black-and-white images on our TVs, in a state of shock and grief, amplified by the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald right before our eyes.

The pageantry of the funeral cortege is something I've never forgotten. This was when I was young and naive and considered the Kennedys royalty.

"similar to Bush's efforts to defeat terror, not contain it, and that he thinks Reagan would have fought the terrorists the same way..."

Two men who strove to dictate history, not just watch it unfurl. A quality of leadership that is lost on the left.

May God be with President Reagan as he departs this world, and with President Bush as he attempts to change its future.

Do you think that the funeral will be played over in its entirety another time? Many times?

I'm sure C-SPAN will have it archived on their website.

"Ladies & Gentlemen, I have just signed legislation outlawing the Soviet Union forever. We begin bombing in 5 minutes."

OMG yes! And did the Democrats EVER hammer him about it for weeks!!

I remember hearing that, if you examine tapes closely, during every administration, that, before the President exits Marine 1, the Marines face toward the White House until the President gets to the steps leading down out of the chopper, then they turn in and face toward the steps. Not so during the Clinton administration aberration, I've heard but never confirmed

I wouldn't doubt it.

Clinton will always be dogged by his boomer, counterculture, anti-military statement to the press, about loathing the military.

I remember that, too. I was a sophomore in high school.

Just before Jack Ruby shot Oswald, my dad (who grew up in Texas) said "they'd better get that guy indoors or somebody is going to shoot him."

That was a terrible time. In fact, from then until about 1980 was a terrible time.

"The interns were just doing what they thought was right," says a DNC staffer, who heard about the incident.

Sounds like these kids? are with the wrong party. Trying to do the right thing albeit a bit premature. Ya gotta give them credit.

Could you please repeat the stories you heard of the secret service agent and the President's last moments? Can pick-up only snippets from the thread and have been at work. Thanks.

It was the first time TV stayed on 24/7. My kids STILL don't believe that........LOL.

I hate that Shepard Smith is the anchor on FNC during this.

Ronald Reagan is a giant--to have a gnat like Shep Smith making subversive statements during this ceremony has me pissed off. FNC has really jumped the shark-- give me Brian Wilson, Angle, TONY SNOW !!!! or anybody. Shepard Smith is only slightly less hellacious than Dari Alexander. What liberal lightweights, I hate to be focusing on it, but it's really lousy that a fool like Smith is anchoring this.

I really hate to soil this thread with the name of Clinton, but since you brought it up...

I can't imagine the same scene being played out at his Liebrary when he dies and goes to hell....

I live just a few miles from the Clinton Library, I am ashamed to admit..

Oh yes, thanks for the heads up.

They show him standing solemnly. It's a closeup? Is he walking through viewing with the public? They cut to a commercial as soon as I got to the TV.
