I know...Michael seemed to be excluded somehow. I don't believe this is the case, I don't think he has been excluded. People deal with the death of a parent differently, and perhaps this is the case.

I would have thought the family would have private time alone with the president, WITHOUT the cameras. I am sure they did at the funeral home, and may again if they need to in the days to come.

The minute they start, I mute the television or change the channel.

That's beautiful. Passing the torch to a new generation. Makes me smile.

Agreed - a few of us gathered in one of the managers' office to watch. I guess I'm getting old and cranky too, but I would've liked to see Patty looking a little more dignified in her dress and hairstyle.

Does anyone know if if the USCG provides participants for the pallbearers and honor guard? I don't think I've seen one yet.

It was just an odd moment when they approached the coffin, they didn't turn and ask Michael, Michael looked bewildered.

It's going to be a long week, I can tell you that.
I'm amazed at the learning curve that's been going on these last few weeks; World War II Monument, D-Day, Reagan.
Some of these reporters are clueless.

I think FNC is doing fine. It's been a mix of comments, humor, anecdotes, and respectful silence. Like Peggy Noonan last night.

Of the three cable channels, MSNBC is by far the best at live/breaking news coverage.

I heard on another thread that his mother Jane Wyman came down to be with Michael.

Michael exchanged hugs with Patti, Ron and Nancy earlier...

Mitch McConnell on Fox saying that Reagan's effort to defeat communism, rather than to contain it, is similar to Bush's efforts to defeat terror, not contain it, and that he thinks Reagan would have fought the terrorists the same way.

I appreciate very much your work in posting the tv screen shots.

Wasn't the honor guard impressive? Such snap and polish. Kudos to the military people involved in the ceremony.

I saw that too, mystery and it's made me wonder if there is an estrangement.
Michael is very conservative and I don't believe his siblings are so perhaps that accounts for an "apartness" I saw as they approached the coffin.

I think the fact that Michael had his family with him was the reason for the separation.
