Thanks for posting the Metro info. For those driving from out of the area, most of the outlying stations have parking lots at them.
Union Station is also an Amtrak station and is a few blocks from the Capitol. Thanks for the info and the thread. I plan to travel to DC from NY on Wednesday, returning to NY the same evening, after the funeral procession. I will be taking Amtrak to Union Station. A few questions, if I may. I suspect there will be extraordinary security, so (a) what's the best place along the route to shoot for to be sure to find a spot to see it; (b) what time you do recommend getting to the procession route in order to be able to see it; and (c) how long does it take to walk from Union Station to that position (and is it safe to walk)?
Thanks for all your help.
Thank You, Rabidralph, I was just asking Kristinn for the info on the DC Metro schedule. you are right on time! :O)
Would someone kindly ping me if the Transit Authority extends operation hours for the rail lines? Right now it looks like 5:30 to midnight, and their homepage hasn't listed any schedule update. If anyone hears that they will be operating longer hours Wed/Thurs/Fri, please whistle. (You do know how to whistle, don't you?)
