Testifying as the man accused of murdering your daughter looks on is something Teresa Vanderheiden doesn't wish on anybody.
"You try to keep your eyes focused on one thing," Vanderheiden said. "I remember looking at the clock a lot, thinking that would avoid it. But your eyes meet."
Anger flashed through Vanderheiden as -- in separate trials -- she came face to face with the men accused of murdering her 25-year-old daughter, Cyndi, in 1998.
"They're looking at you and as you look down and see them, you want to " Vanderheiden, speaking from her Clements home, trailed off for a moment. "You just want to get rid of them."........

Peterson's Martha Defense
By CHRIS TAYLOR
Monday, Jun. 14, 2004
Martha Stewart was back in the legal spotlight last week at another high-profile trial that has obsessed the media. As Scott Peterson went on trial for the murder of his pregnant wife Laci, the defense scored a surreal but key point by playing a videotape of the TV homemaker. Peterson had said that on the morning the prosecution says he killed Laci, she was watching Stewart talk about meringue. The Modesto, Calif., police department claimed no meringue was mentioned on Stewart's show that morning. But Peterson attorney Mark Geragos, in his opening statement, played the tape and showed otherwise.
That was just the first of many early embarrassments for the authorities. Geragos has displayed a talent for getting prosecution witnesses to point out inaccuracies in police reports. While prosecutors were trying to show that Laci was too tired to walk the family dog, as Peterson claims she was going to do the last time he saw her, they also inexplicably pointed out that she was able to go to a salon and a spa and buy about $100 worth of groceries that day. "It's a bit confusing what the prosecution is doing at this point," says former San Francisco district attorney Jim Hammer. ..........

OMG Vel, that is fabulous. Also, the Prosecution has some other stuff that is FABULOUS. Just wait until they get the side scan sonar operator on!! They REALLY DID FIND LACI and they have a picture of her body apparently with a weight around the neck, one cinched around the waist and the feet I believe. The whole time she was there she was just washed in a channel about 30 feet deep and they have pictures of the drag marks where the tides pulled her back and forth. I just KNOW deep down that Geragos is gonna eat chit before this is over!!
LMAO!!!
Yes, you're right. I remember reading that the maid said he came in for one or two minutes around 10 on the 23rd. And, I can't remember the details, but I got the impression that that tidbit was not lost on the defense.
But there's still a question about the Martha show on the 24th. Supposedly she DID make a brief mention of meringue. WHEN in the show did she say it? If it was after 9:30, and if Scott claims to have seen it, then he has just contradicted his own story that he left the house at 9:30 that day.
For all I know, Martha might mention meringue in every one of her shows! I've never watched the show!
Okay, when they announced that there'd be no cameras in the courtroom, I didn't despair. I figured we'd still hear enough about the testimony to be able to judge how they're doing. But you're right: we haven't heard any quotes, etc., of the audios of the tapes!!
So, belatedly, I'm joining all of you who have been so upset that this case isn't televised. How I wish it were. I'd set the VCR every day and watch it in the evening, and also watch it during every free moment!
All shoes accounted for, as Jackie said, would be perfect.
Remember months ago, Matt Dalton (since fired by Geragos) claimed to have "found" some sort of slippers or flip-flops or other flimsy shoes, belonging to Laci, at a house down the street? That whole thing sounded like a total fix to me. Maybe all of Laci's shoes ARE present and accounted for, and maybe the defense knows this very well!
Yeah--just because Laci was able to out-walk her mother-in-law who has to wear OXYGEN, for heaven's sake, does not necessarily mean that Laci was ready for the Olympics!
Check haircut. Check haircut. Check haircut. ROFL!!!
Here's to a hearty helping of what-you-said for Geragos!!! LOL.
I think that's also why the Court TV COMMENTARY is not the greatest either. There is pressure being applied from somewhere. I wish I knew where to email them. I'm getting sick of it.
Thanks RG. Sounds like the testimony is getting more exciting. Building up as it were!!
Oh, God. Well, we knew it would happen.
That is really weird, the way he avoided Sharon. I think he didn't trust himself to put on the right sort of act.
I hope the witnesses who were there can continue to convey the atmosphere, b/c that is an important part of this thing, too. So what if the police had a gut feeling, from early on? That's what they get paid to do. And it's a good thing.
Geez that To DO List just about says it all. What a vain, pompous, Ass and absolutely cold. That man has NO feeling for anything but HIMSELF. Heading home now. BBL
