This is really a great piece. It's good for us to hear that even many conservatives were impatient with Reagan while he was in office, and that he was not perfect. He did not create the conservative Utopia that his longtime supporters hoped for. Some of his tactics seemed wrong, even as his longterm objectives never wavered. he did make compromises when necessary, even beating tactical retreats when necessary to enable a great move forward. IMO this makes him even greater in retrospect.

I always view items from Hoover Ins. with skepticism. This is unabashedly good.

President Reagan, very much like President Bush, is a visionary.

They refuse to sweat the details, and realize that there are often simple solutions to problems that seem overwhelmingly complex.

The section in the middle of this article where he speaks of Pres.Reagan's defeat of the Soviets is one of the best short synopses I've ever seen of this.
