June 7, 2004 -- LOS ANGELES The late President Ronald Reagan's son Michael said yesterday that his father slipped away "peacefully," capping a sad week that family members knew was his last. He told The Post that his father had been bedridden for a week, as Alzheimer's and pneumonia took their final toll.Michael Reagan, 58, a radio talk-show host, said he walked into his father's bedroom Saturday and came upon ashen-faced mother Nancy, sister Patti and brother Ronald Prescott Reagan sitting on a couch. They had witnessed the 40th president's death moments earlier.
"There was a quiet peacefulness. My brother just looked at me and said, 'It was very peaceful, he went very peacefully,' " Michael said.

I have remembered several of the past presidents, but none has impacted our lives as a nation and the world, as a whole, as much as Reagan. Though many hated him, for they knew that he was a good man and that if his ideals prevailed theirs' wouldn't, he won the hearts of many of them (his political enemies) over the years because what he believed made sense. God bless him. And God bless Nancy for being such a great wife and companion! May God give her rest to her burdened soul, and comfort to remember that she will see him again in better days!
The last chapter of every biography of the greatest President of the 20th Century will be the story of her love and devotion. First Lady, indeed.
"God bless him. And God bless Nancy for being such a great wife and companion! May God give her rest to her burdened soul, and comfort to remember that she will see him again in better days!"
Amen.
Michael should speak at the convention, and rally us all to "Win One for the Gipper!"
with a closed casket, do you think they'll actually send the body or just wait till it returns and then replace him for the finaly burial.
Gonna have to be careful with that sort of thing. We don't need to invite and negative Wellstone comparisons.
There could never be any such comparison.(unless the commielovinmedia tries otherwise, which they of course would.)And I think any such comparison would be met with as much disdain as the Wellstone Farce did by the public at large.
Reagan was an inspiration, and would be proud to continue being one. And should be one for Americans for as long as we record history.
He went peacefully, with his family close, and no one could ask for more. It's a tragedy, but not an unexpected one.
Whereas Wellstone's death was a accident. Unexpected. And those who used his death as an opportunistic chance at a pep rally did not reap half of what they deserved.
Let us Celebrate Reagan's life, wonder at his leadership, and try to follow his example.
The marked difference between those who loved and respected Ronnie, and those who hated (libs) him will only serve to further bring to light the classless inhumanity of the left in the eyes of the public.
The GOP needs to format and put on a tribute to Ronnie at the convention.
Thank you. I don't think Pres. Reagan would have wanted it either.
